Quick note from Pastor Ben:
I know many this week are reminiscing about the Halloween blizzard of 1991. I was not in Minnesota then, but I do remember hearing stories of trick-or-treaters battling snow up to their knees. This week we did not get the 28 inches that fell in ’91, but I must say it’s odd and a little discouraging to have several inches of snow on the ground on October 20th. Maybe you are a person who loves the snow, or maybe, like me, you have found yourself grumbling and complaining a bit more this week as you ponder what an October- April winter could look like for us as Minnesotans.
For the message this Sunday we will be looking at Philippians 2:12-16 and Exodus 16:1-7. Our key verses say, “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:14-15). Scripture calls us to check our attitude and to fight against a complaining and grumbling spirit even in the midst of unfavorable circumstances (like an October snowstorm). How is that possible? We’ll see what God’s Word has to say about how we can combat an attitude of complaining and how with God’s help we can find joy in the journey. I’m looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday!!
In other news here is an important update on the Trunk-or-Treat event:
Sadly, we did not receive enough volunteers and therefore we have canceled our Trunk or Treat event that was supposed to take place next Saturday(10/31). We hope to do it again next year. Thanks to those who have donated candy. It will go to good use as we will be handing out goodie bags to the children who are involved in our ministry.
Also if you haven’t yet, please read through our COVID-19 safety guidelines that the elders and pastors recently updated. As we have seen cases going up in Minnesota, we ask that you as a church body do all you can to follow these guidelines.
