Annual Diocesan Convention
Dear friends,
I am excited to share with you that we will be attending the 229th Annual Diocesan Convention in Fredericksburg, VA, this week. Father Burl and I will be joined by our dedicated lay representatives, Amanda Dupree and Paul Rosbolt, along with our youth representative, Ava Liberatore. This gathering provides a valuable opportunity to connect with our fellow ministers and learn about the incredible stories of ministry within our diocese.
As this is the first convention since Bishop Stevenson's election, it will be intriguing to witness his vision for the future of our diocese. During this convention, we will also have the important task of voting to accept our diocesan budget for the upcoming year. Additionally, we will be electing new lay and clergy members to the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Diocese, who play a crucial role in supporting Bishop Mark Stevenson in administering the diocese. It’s always been fascinating to me to see over 500 lay and clergy members of our diocese come together and witness the Holy Spirit’s work among us here in Virginia.
The theme of this year's convention is "Closing the Gap between Religion and Life," a topic that holds immense significance in our ever-changing world. We kindly request your prayers as we partake in this pivotal event in the life of our diocese. Your support means a great deal to us, and we look forward to sharing our experiences and insights with you upon our return. Please join us on Sunday morning to hear more about this convention during our Adult Forum.
Peace,
Matthew+
