Dear Carondelet Community,
It’s Spooky Season! 🎃
We are so excited to welcome more than 120 children from Monument Crisis Center, Contra Costa Foster Friends, Community Youth Center, and Shelter, Inc. this Wednesday for our annual St. Marty’s Party!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our collection drive—we only have 232 of 800 donations so we are extending the deadline to tomorrow, Monday, October 27. We are in need of money donations or bags of candy.
A special shoutout to alumnae Erin Herlihy Harris ’07, who donated a bunch of costumes, and Julie Gonzalez ’99, for her continued annual donation that keeps this tradition strong. With more than 25% of our students volunteering, it’s going to be a full and joy-filled evening.
Named in honor of Saint Martin de Porres, the patron saint of social justice, and the Oakland elementary school that once attended the event, St. Marty’s Party celebrates our ongoing community partnerships and ignites a spirit of service among our students.
What makes this night special is that our students serve as “buddies” to each child, creating space for fun, connection, and a few hours of rest for parents and guardians. For many of these children, it’s a first chance to pick out their own costume, enjoy fun-filled trick-or-treating and games, and have a pizza party in a safe environment.
And don’t forget—our Annual Costume Contest is this Friday, featuring performances from the faculty/staff “Yet to Be Named Jam Band!” Please review our costume guidelines below for both events to ensure everyone can celebrate safely and inclusively.

We are weeks away from welcoming students into the new Boscacci Performance Center! Excitement is building as we complete the punch list and add finishing touches.
While our students will be the inaugural users, we look forward to celebrating with our incredible donors whose investments so far have helped this space come to life… but there is still work to be done.
We’re under $1 million shy of our $3.5M goal to fully fund and sustain this project. Please join this transformational effort here, or reach out to our Development Team to have a conversation about being involved. We’d love to include everyone in our recognition plan and on our donor wall!
| | | Emergency Notification Testing Soon | | |
Make Sure You Are Subscribed to Emergency Updates
In the event of a schoolwide emergency, Carondelet has the capability to alert parents/guardians via email, phone call, and/or text messaging through a service called SchoolMessenger. In order for you to receive text messages from Carondelet in an emergency situation, you must opt in to this service.
To opt in now, text “Y” or “Yes” to 67587.
If you believe you’ve already opted in, you can text “Y” or “Yes” to 67587 again to confirm your status. If you previously had a student at a school that uses SchoolMessenger (such as De La Salle), your opt-in may already be active—unless you chose to opt out.
We will be testing our emergency notification system soon, so it is important that you know whether or not you are subscribed. Please direct any questions to the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications, Jill Okimoto.
