The Home Depot Foundation came to the Campus on Tuesday morning for an incredibly special event! More than 300 volunteers, from store managers to corporate leaders, absolutely transformed our staff spaces and the St. Vincent de Paul Community Garden.
In just four hours, they painted a mural, built custom cornhole sets, constructed flower planters, picnic tables, benches, trellises, and gazebos...put together no-sew blankets, planted edibles and flowers, planted fruit trees and shade trees all over the Campus, created an accessible pathway through the garden, installed solar lights, constructed a chicken coop ,and put together 100 bicycles for clients!
Thank you to Nika Forté (Campus Master Gardener for St. Vincent de Paul), Teresa Hauer (HSC Development Manager), and Dave Backus (HSC Operations Director), who all collaborated to create a wish list that The Home Depot Foundation fulfilled! And a big thank you to HandsOn Greater Phoenix for facilitating this beautiful day of service and generosity. The signature Home Depot "LET'S DO THIS" energy breathed into these spaces will liven up the whole Campus for years to come.
On behalf of all of us at the HSC, deepest thanks to Home Depot and their rock star volunteers.
