HSC Going Green with Solar Gift from APS
APS is installing solar-covered parking structures, a rooftop solar system and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Human Services Campus (HSC) as part of the company’s Solar Communities and Take Charge AZ programs for non-residential customers and organizations serving limited-income populations.

Installation of the 371-kilowatt solar system by Harmon Solar is expected to be completed by the end of October and will be energized later this year. Once in operation, HSC is projected to receive a monthly credit of almost $930 a month for the next 20 years in addition to being able to take advantage of 100-covered parking spaces. The EV chargers are expected to be in operation by mid-December timeframe for use by staff and the public.

“This incredibly generous opportunity provides so many benefits for the staff at the Human Services Campus, and we are deeply grateful,” said HSC Executive Director Amy Schwabenlender.

“The Solar Communities Program and Take Charge AZ are mutually beneficial as they will support HSC in their mission to serve the homeless population in Phoenix while advancing clean energy in Arizona,” said Dawn Tompkins, Manager of Customer to Grid Solutions at APS. “The programs are an essential part of our company’s clean energy commitment and it wouldn’t be possible without the participation of nonprofit partners like Human Services Campus.”
Let's Socialize!
As we are all adapting and finding new ways to stay connected, HSC is re-committing to our social media platforms. With people quarantining and practicing social distancing, it has never been more important for us to build our audience on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Youtube. We would be so grateful for your support here:
With all of the work we do on the ground, we want to integrate call to action items, celebratory messages, milestones, videos and fundraising goals into our online presence.

We will have so much to celebrate and be grateful for this season. We want to share our successes, personal stories and big events like the Mike McQuaid Breakfast with you, which means that we will be posting more frequently. Invite your friends, introduce us to organizations that you'd like us to know about. Help us build a bigger social circle!
Homelessness is not a choice. The reasons men and women experience homelessness are as diverse as they are. To address the challenge, the Human Services Campus and our collaborating partners are seeking Phoenix City Council approval to add more shelter beds.
We are not expanding the Campus. We need permission to use our existing space for those men and women already at and near the Campus, so that more people can sleep inside. Our next important milestone is at the November 5th City of Phoenix Planning Commission meeting. Please follow us or ‘get involved’ on the web site for updates.
Please follow us at fromstreettohome.org and on social media for ways to get involved. Housing is healthcare. And for those with no home, the journey begins with shelter.
