A MESSAGE FROM MR. AIKEN

Dear Parents,

Last week was an exciting and extremely busy week at the Mt. Nebo Campus! Here are some highlights as well as some information on report cards and conferences.

Career Day activities for the high school students went extremely well! We hosted 18 guest presenters who did a tremendous job of sharing their experiences, expertise, and wisdom with the students. They expressed that the students were fully engaged and asked outstanding questions. One presenter stated, "I wish I had an event like this when I was in high school." Many of our students and teachers remarked how helpful and positive the day was. Enjoy some CAREER DAY PHOTOS HERE.

Last Wednesday and Thursday, middle school students were at the Ligonier Camp and Conference Center on their annual fall retreat . They were challenged to Live Fearless in all endeavors in life - first and foremost, in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It was a great experience for all the students with team building activities as well as some competitive and fun games.

The Varsity Cross Country Teams competed last Thursday in the WPIAL Championships at the California University of Pennsylvania with the opportunity to advance to the PIAA State Finals in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Congratulations to the boys' team for finishing third and qualifying for the PIAA Championships! Congratulations to Eric Gronbeck who received a medal by finishing in the top 15 runners in the boys' race. The girls' team just missed qualifying, but still had both Emma Steele and Caeley Scherer qualify as individual runners for the PIAA finals! Also, Emma Steele received a medal by finishing in the top 15 of all female runners. Great job by all of the runners from both teams; we are extremely proud of you! Please keep the runners in your prayers as they travel and compete in Hershey next Saturday, November 3.

The conclusion of the first quarter was Friday, October 26. Quarter 1 report cards will be sent electronically today, Monday, October 29.

Parent, student and teacher conferences are Wednesday, October 31 (7:30 AM-3:00 PM) and Thursday, November 1 (12:00 PM-8:30 PM).  We strongly encourage students to attend the conference which allows them to receive direct feedback from their teachers and to continue the process of taking complete responsibility for their academic progress.

To schedule conferences please email Mrs. Joyce Afflerbach jafflerbach@edenca.org or call the school office (412.324.1096).

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

God Bless,
Todd Aiken

CAREER DAY
Comments from Mrs. Cischke
"It was a busy day! I praise God for this opportunity for our students and I'm thankful for everyone that helped make it possible. When I was in high school, I never thought my purpose and passion would be to help others find theirs, but God's will prevailed and I'm thankful to be here at Eden." Enjoy some CAREER DAY PHOTOS HERE.

POWDERPUFF HOMECOMING GAME

Despite the cold weather, the bleachers were nearly filled with cheering parents and classmates at the first-ever Eden Powderpuff Homecoming Game last Thursday. The game went very well!

The final score was 21-72 and although the seniors lost, they were happy that they were able to come together as a class and raise money collectively (over $700!) for their senior trip.

And, at the end of the game, they poured the whole bucket of Gatorade on two coaches!
