Vestry Stewardship Statement from Andy+
|
|
Our Vestry Commitment to Stewardship
Dear Falls Church Family,
We are blessed to have a Vestry whose leadership is focused on God’s mission and how that transforms our lives and others lives, even the world, through us. They are faithful stewards in all they do and want all of us to grow spiritually as stewards of God’s blessings, knowing resilience and gratitude, and then being generous as God is generous in love and life and blessing. 100% of your vestry has pledged to God’s mission through TFCE in 2021 and we are so pleased that other leaders and parishioners are making their pledges. At the October meeting, the vestry members present unanimously passed this Stewardship Statement for our parish below and I hope you will read it and pray about it as we continue our Annual Giving Stewardship Campaign for 2021. And I hope you will join us on the path to generosity through gratitude and resilience as we grow in our relationship with God and move forward on the spiritual journey.
Stewardship Statement of The Falls Church Episcopal
(passed by the Vestry at the October 22, 2020 Vestry Meeting)
In recognition of the church's tradition of calling us to work, pray, and give for the spread of God's kingdom, all members of The Falls Church Episcopal are encouraged to develop a personal spiritual discipline that includes the holy habits of tithing, daily personal prayer, life-long Christian formation, serving others, Sabbath time, and weekly corporate worship.
We embrace a vision of stewardship through a joyful response to God's extravagant gifts; to confront fears of scarcity; and to empower the mission of Christ through gratitude and resilience leading to generous giving.
We commit to The Episcopal Church’s affirmation that the tithe (10% of our treasure) is the standard and goal, and commit ourselves prayerfully to working toward meeting or exceeding this goal, recognizing that our giving may include financial support for other ministries and organizations.
We encourage our members to consider proportional giving in which they recognize the proportion and percentage of their giving at this point in time and prayerfully work towards tithing as the goal. We recognize that this is an intentional process and a goal to work towards joyfully and prayerfully.
We also commit – as individuals and as the Body of Christ – to following the example of Jesus Christ by offering a portion of our time in service to others, by promoting justice and the dignity of every human being, and by being stewards of the earth.

Bailey's Dinners are Back:
Sunday, November 8
For several years, The Falls Church Episcopal has been preparing dinner for the people staying at the Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter on the second Sunday of each month.
During the pandemic, we have had the meals catered by Spin Pollo Restaurant, but we are going back to cooking the meal for the shelter in a responsible and safe manner. Here's the game plan-
we need volunteers to:
* Make cupcakes at home and bring to the church
* Cook the beans at home and bring to the church
* Cut up the onions and peppers at home and bring to the church
* Cook the meat at church: heat up the beans, cook the rice and the
onions/peppers, and assemble the meals into individual containers.
Masks and gloves are mandatory at all times and we will use both the
kitchen and Fellowship Hall to stay socially distanced.
* Deliver the containers to the shelter
* Clean up the kitchen and Fellowship Hall afterwards

The Little Free Food Pantry
On Fairfax Street near the church’s Thrift Shop is a small “take some food, leave some food” pantry (like the “little libraries” where people can take or leave a book). We are definitely seeing people use that pantry to supplement their groceries, and you can drop off non-perishable food items there at any time.
|
|
We ask that during this time you please continue to make an effort to contribute to the Church as you normally would. Although we are not having in-person services, the work of our parish, staff, and clergy continues. Fulfilling our mission and our vision to be an enduring beacon of faith, hope, and love is crucial during these days.
