Hello… hallow… Halloween!
Spooky season is officially here, Yountville, and I’ll admit: it’s one of my favorite times of the year.
October puts creativity center stage... especially around Halloween. Costumes and decorations start popping up, children laugh and run around in search of candy, and kitchens fill with comforting dishes, monster-themed desserts and spooky cocktails. Some decorations are scary, others are goofy, and a few are so well crafted that you have to stop and wonder how long they took to make. I’m always impressed by the talent, ingenuity and sheer effort people put into Halloween. Ah, I love it!
Meanwhile, harvest is winding down just as pumpkins join the party. I’m more than ready for sweater weather, warm tea, big pots of soup and slow Sunday roasts. We’ll simply ignore last week’s 95-degree temperatures and hope October gets the memo soon.
Spooky season gives us, again, plenty of reasons to get out, gather and enjoy it all together.
Happy October, neighbors!

Monday’s candidate forum started well before anyone took a seat. The Chamber first asked the community what it wanted to know, then worked through the responses and combined them into 10 questions reflecting the issues Yountville residents and businesses care about most. From there, we coordinated with the moderator, Partners2Media, and all the candidates to bring the forum together on September 28 and give the community a chance to hear the answers directly.
Couldn’t make it? Watch the full candidate forum on YouTube.
Prefer to watch on TV? The forum will also air on Channel 28 at 1 p.m. on:
- Friday, October 2
- Friday, October 9
- Friday, October 16
- Friday, October 23
