Dear Parents,

On Tuesday we welcomed back a SCSS graduate from the class of 1990, Commander Matthew Fanning, Commanding Officer of the USS Hartford. He has served with the Navy for 19 years. Commander Fanning spent the day with our students teaching them the importance of service to community, Church, and country. He was taught the meaning of vocation and listening to God's calling during his school years here at St. Catherine's. The children listened to the Commander as he talked about how valuable his time at  St. Catherine of Siena School was and all the things he learned.

He visited all of the classrooms from preschool to eighth grade and shared an engaging PowerPoint presentation which included his travels to many European Countries, many states along the East Coast and even to the North Pole. The students asked many questions about life on the submarine.
He was also greeted by  his former classmates Fr. Joseph Marcello, and Mr. Steven Burke, another alum of 1990 who met him upon his arrival. What a blessing it is to belong to St. Catherine of Siena School Community.

Quote from Pope Francis:

"Love and charity, are service, helping others, serving others. There are many people who spend their lives in this way, in the service of others."

Faithfully Yours,

Miss Giaquinto

Walk-A-Thon News

The Waiver/t-shirt forms that went home last week are due in ASAP along with the list of names for the letter writing campaign.

Please remember that your child cannot participate in this event without this signed waiver form. The t-shirt size information is at the bottom of this sheet.

The t-shirt is free to all but we must have the form

Please look again and make sure you have sent this paperwork in so that your child can participate and be part of the event. We would not want them to feel left out in any way.

Special Events

Want to make a difference, want to have some fun while meeting other St. Catherine's Families, then join the Events Committee Group.
We will have brainstorming meetings to come up with some fun new community building ideas for the school and some special events just for the Middle School kids. It takes a village to raise a child and no one person alone can do it.
