OUR MISSION:

St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.

We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.

From the Desk of Mrs. Tiezzi

Dear St. Rita Parents/Guardians,

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 7, is an early dismissal day. Dismissal for all students is at 12:00 (noon). Our aftercare program is only open until 3:00 P.M. If your child is attending aftercare, please send him/her to school with a lunch and a beverage. School will be closed on Monday for the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day holiday. I hope you can take some time over the upcoming weekend to enjoy all the fun family activities associated with this lovely season.

The school picture order form will be going home with your child today. Ordering can be done on-line following the directions on the form. Individual students’ pictures will be taken on Wednesday, October 12. Students are not required to wear their uniforms for individual pictures, however they should be dressed appropriately for school. Next Friday, October 14, class pictures will be taken and students must be in their proper winter uniform for these.

If you haven’t already received an email from your child’s teacher regarding the upcoming conferences please expect one this week. The parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for October 17 from 3:00-6:30 and October 18 from 1:00-3:30. Both these days are early dismissal days. Parents must register for conferences using the link provided by the teachers. All parents are strongly advised to sign-up for a conference to review their child’s NEWA MAP assessments, learn more about their child as a learner, and have any questions or concerns addressed midway through the first marking period.

Thank you for your patience over the past month as we have worked out the issues with our on-line system for before and aftercare registration and payment. The new automated on-line registration portal is currently up and running (srsbac.hotlunches.net). Please contact Mrs. Bathrick if you have any questions about the before and aftercare programs.

Tomorrow, before the 9:00 Mass, we will be presenting the monthly St. Rita Way awards to those students deemed by their teacher to have exhibited the St. Rita Way value of peace during the month of September. Those students in PreK will receive their award in their classroom. Congratulations to the following students who will be receiving this award-James N., Eva F., Sofia L., Yireh VS. Simran K., Charlie S., Johanna M., Joseph J., Alexander K., Rosalia F., Adam S., Deon K., Juliette W., Milan C., Abrielle MC., Giuliana P., Erin K., Addyson D., Emily H., and Jude P. The value we are working on for October is Faith. We invite our parents, grandparents and parishioners to join us for weekly Friday Mass as we build the kingdom of God here at St. Rita School.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend.

God Bless,

Luke Hamling, a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 608 in Hamden, has been a scout for over eleven years, a member of St. Paul VI Parish, has served as an altar boy, and graduated from St. Rita School in 2019. His Eagle Scout project will involve renovating two of the church signs to reflect our new parish, including landscaping of those areas once the signs have been installed. He chose this project because he believes having unified signs will help with the building of community at our unified parish of St. Paul VI Parish.

To complete this project, he must raise over $9,600 in order to pay for the signs and landscaping items. He is asking the school community to assist with this effort. All monies raised will go directly to this project, and any money raised in excess of the project needs will go towards the signage needs at the other two churches which will also be renovated in the future

To help with this project please click below to contribute through his GoFundMe page.
