Calhoun to Represent Texas in Washington DC
|
|
I am going to Washington DC for the 2019 Texas National Distinguished Principal award! It’s only a few days away and I cannot believe it! The final details have been made, and I officially have the invitations to make me say WOW! In all the state of amazing principals and I have this opportunity, this moment. I’ve got the ball gown and cocktail dress and the family is pretty much set.
NAESP asks each principal to bring 85 of something that represents their state (overseas schools included) and I’m excited to show you what I will be taking to represent THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS! Shhhh- keep it a secret! Local artist
Christi Barrett
painted a bluebonnet picture for each- these will each come with their own easel. So pretty!!So special❤️ Now we have to get them to DC without damage.😊 One of the days in DC we exchange and then I will be coming back with 84 gifts from all over to show the staff and students! I’m so excited to share little details with the staff and students because they’re excited, too! I’m so thankful for them and how they love me. 🐯It’s all about who you get to share your moments with and I’m blessed to have the most elite group.

Brandon Gonzales 2nd Place at State Fair
|
In May 2019, as everyone was gearing up for summer break, Brandon Gonzalez decided he wanted to show a market barrow in this year’s State Fair of Texas. He knew this was going to take a lot of hard work & dedication, but he was determined to make it to the show ring. Over the last 6 months, he managed to juggle FFA, baseball, football & most importantly academics.
On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Brandon shared the show ring with some of the toughest competition from across the state. He represented MMS very well & placed 2
nd
with his 271 pound Duroc!!
Congratulations, Brandon!
