Vestry Spotlight:

Cliff Wieger

Clifford Robert Wieger III (we know and love him as "Cliff") was born in Colorado Springs in 1947 and still lives in the same house he grew up in. He went to grade school at Ivywild (now Bristol's) and junior high at South (where the police station now sits). Cliff graduated from Palmer High School and then Western State College (which is now a university and the "ice box of Colorado," Cliff says), with a degree in Business Management.

Cliff worked for Levine's Toy & Hobby Shop for 16 years, using his management education and experience. He worked for Cheyenne Mountain School District for 24 years and spent 17 of those years working as Transportation Supervisor.

Cliff met his wife of 49 years, Diana, at Levine's. They were married at Holy Spirit and joined Chapel of Our Saviour in 1975, when Cliff says, he "went from being a Methodist to an Episcopalian."

Cliff and Diana are the proud parents of two lovely daughters, Carrie and Andrea, both of whom were baptized at Chapel of Our Saviour. Carrie was married here. They have 10 grandchildren: Chylise, Charles, Charlette, James, Joseph, Emily, Mary, Samantha, Alexander, and Troy.

Cliff has served for almost 6 years as our Junior Warden and also volunteers for Feast of Saint Arnold. He stays very busy around here and says he has no plans to stop!

Cliff is also an active member of the Masonic Order, with membership in the Blue Lodge, Shrine, and Scottish Rite and has been an officer in all the orders.

For fun, Cliff enjoys bowling twice a week and traveling, especially to Mazatlan, Taos, and Pagosa Springs. Cliff says he also "makes attempts at being a photographer, especially landscape and wildlife."

Cliff, we are so grateful for your tireless service at Chapel of Our Saviour and love having you and Diana and your wonderful family in our church family. Thank you for all you do here!

100 years of Allen House.

65 years of Chapel:

Brokenness into Beauty

In 1908, Mr. and Mrs. Allen purchased eight acres to build their Tudor Manor, a Jacobethan architectural style home, a fashionable elegant style revived in the 19th century. It was designed by a Philadelphian architect, Horace Trumbauer. Mr. Allen’s intent was to build a two-story residential home with basement and attic, a one and a half story garage, and one and a half story stable. This home was to accommodate their five children (Warton and Curtis- twins, Hope Ryan, Thomas McKean, and George Nelson), a nanny, numerous servants butlers, and chauffeurs. The original (summer) home, referred to by the Allen’s as “Hampshire House” and “Cheyenne Court”, had eighty rooms and fourteen chimneys and costing $170,000 upon completion in 1909, which is $5,735,000 adjusted for inflation. The Allen family lived together in the home for 10 years, until 1919 when family relations were broken.
