West Coast Collaborative

Do you sit in church, listening to the sermon when the thought, “There’s something more here I’d like to share,” wells up in you? Are you engaged in the worship, ministry, Christian formation and leadership in your congregation? Do you love to be in conversation with others about scripture and what it means in our daily lives? Your Rector, Vicar or Priest-in-Charge can help you discern if you might be called to the ministry of Lay Preaching.

The West Coast Collaborative Episcopal School for Ministry provides lay and diaconal formation for members of the Dioceses of Northern California, El Camino Real, and San Diego. We are currently accepting applications for our 2025 course to prepare individuals for a Lay Preaching license.

Week of Prayer

The Week of Prayer for World Peace (WPWP) began as a Christian initiative in 1974 but soon became interfaith, welcoming people of all beliefs or none. This year, it launches virtually via Zoom at 3:30 p.m. UK time on Sunday, October 13. Click here to access the Zoom login information

The event was founded on the idea that "the peace of the world must be prayed for by the faiths of the world," a principle set by its first chair, Dr. Edward Carpenter. WPWP continues to encourage interfaith prayer for peace, recognizing the importance of unity in diversity. The event is co-organized by the Anglican Pacifist Fellowship and we encourage you to participate as we pray for the world.

National Voter Education Week

National Voter Education Week is October 7-11, and being informed is key to casting a confident vote. Start by confirming your polling location, understanding your ballot, and exploring early voting or vote-by-mail options. Next, plan for how and when you'll vote. Lastly, research the candidates and offices on your ballot, reviewing their positions and track records before making your choice.

“Participating in our country’s political life isn’t just about casting our own vote – it requires working together so we can all vote and vote faithfully. There are many ways to get involved – from participating to supporting others in our congregations and communities. We can all play a role in getting “souls to the polls!” - OGR

St. Peter's in Red Bluff Celebration!

St. Peter's Church in Red Bluff celebrated a special event on October 3 with the dedication of its new St. Francis Shrine, honoring the patron saint of animals and the environment. As part of the ceremony, the church also hosted a pet blessing for neighborhood animals, inviting residents to bring their pets—dogs, cats, and other beloved companions—to receive a blessing. This tradition, held near the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, is rooted in the saint’s deep reverence for all of God's creatures. The event symbolized a prayerful wish for the health and well-being of the animals and their owners.
