Hello Prairie Central District, and blessings for these beautiful fall days!

The full (and sometimes frantic) days of October invite us to steady ourselves, more than ever, in the rhythms of God's grace, and our own gratitude. I am particularly grateful for the leadership of our Prairie Central District pastors:  Elders, Deacons, Local Pastors, those in extension ministry, those serving as Certified Lay Ministers and District Superintendent Supply.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and I trust that you and your congregation can be creative in reaching out to YOUR pastor with a special thank you. More than ever, we need our pastors to show us what it looks like to be courageous and creative. Let us not forget to thank them for all the ways they offer themselves and their gifts to us! (see some ideas in the article below!)

Every Blessing,

DS Rev. Wendy Hardin Hermann

Prairie Central District Superintendent

Showing Appreciation for Pastors

October is a time to intentionally recognize the pastors and clergy who serve our congregations and communities throughout the year. Pastors give their time, energy and care in countless ways, from leading worship and preaching to visiting the sick, supporting families, offering prayer and helping congregations live out their mission. While pastors deserve our gratitude all year long, October provides a special opportunity to express that appreciation through a personal note, a prayer, a helping hand or a thoughtful gesture. Find ideas for meaningful ways to thank and support your pastor this month and throughout the year. Read more.

Clergy Explore Innovative Leadership

More than 250 clergy from the Wisconsin and Northern Illinois Conferences gathered for the 2026 School of Leadership at Green Lake Conference Center, exploring leadership, connection and innovation in a changing church. Led by Rev. Dr. Kenda Creasy Dean and Scott Pontier, the three-day gathering encouraged clergy to lean on one another and imagine new ways of leading the church into the future. Read more

Apportionment Highlight

World Service Fund:

Ministry We Do Together

The World Service Fund is one of the seven apportionment funds that support ministries and causes important to The United Methodist Church as a whole.

This fund enables us to work together in mission, leadership development, discipleship, evangelism, justice, and global outreach, extending the church’s ministry far beyond any one congregation. Through shared giving, churches help support ministries that train pastors, send missionaries, respond to disasters, create resources for faith formation, and work for peace and justice. Giving to the World Service Fund is one way we live out our connectional identity, combining our gifts to strengthen the church’s witness and bring Christ’s love to communities around the world.

HOW TO GIVE: Write a check or donate online to your local church and note, “World Service Fund”. Churches can give through the regular NIC Apportionment process.
