St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.

Dear SRS Parents,

Miss Laudano, our school support specialist has informed me that she will be leaving her position on October 23 to take a job with the State of Connecticut in the judicial system. Carissa has been sharing her news with the students today. We thank Carissa for her service to the students and families here at St. Rita for the past two years and wish her well in her new endeavor. I have been interviewing potential candidates for the position and hope to have someone in place by the beginning of November.

Conferences are scheduled for this Friday, October 11 and next Tuesday, October 15.  Both days are early dismissal days (12:15 P.M.).  Below are some pointers on helping you get the most out of your conference. Just a reminder to middle school parents your conference includes your child. Please be sure he/she is in attendance.

                                                             Before the conference
  • Ask your child how she feels about school.
  • Ask your child if there is anything that he wants you to talk about with his teacher.
  • Tell your child that you and the teacher are meeting to help him/her.
  • Make a list of topics that you want to talk about with the teacher.
  • Prepare a list of questions such as:
What are my child's strongest and weakest subjects?
Does my child hand homework in on time?
Does my child participate in class?
Does my child seem happy at school?
What can I do at home to help?

During the conference
  • Be on time (or early) for the meeting.
  • End the meeting on time. Other parents will probably have a conference after yours.
  • Relax and be yourself.
  • Stay calm during the conference.
  • Ask the most important questions first.
  • If your child receives special services, ask about your child's progress in those classes.
  • Ask for explanations of anything you don't understand
  • Ask your child's teacher for ways that you can help your child at home.
  • Thank the teacher.

After the conference
  • Talk about the conference with your child.
  • Talk about the positive points, and be direct about problems.
  • Tell your child about any plans you and the teacher created.
  • Keep in touch with the teacher during the school year.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Enjoy the Columbus Day holiday weekend.

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

Does Your Company Offer Volunteer Grants?
Volunteer grant programs, also known as “Dollars for Doers” programs, are corporate giving programs created to encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work.
Through these programs, companies provide monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer regularly.

Please take a moment and ask if your employer participates in a Volunteer Grants Program. Your time and talent at St. Rita School could turn into dollars for our school! Questions? Feel free to contact Joanne Bruno at  jbruno.stritaschool@gmail.com .
The Box Tops for Education program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school

Over the summer, participating brands began to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app , available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online.

If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products.

Visit amazonsmile.com , and anytime you purchase an eligible item, Amazon will donate a portion of the profit to our school! Select “Divine Mercy Parish
Corporation” as your charity, and St. Rita School will benefit every time you
