The 'Put Your $ Where Your Heart Is' campaign has launched in Airdrie to encourage support for our local shops, restaurants and services.
Watch for a social media and online marketing platform EatStayPlayAirdrie' that will roll out into the fall. In October the focus will shift to an online contest for local shoppers with weekly prizes leading up to a grand prize draw on 'Shop Small Saturday' November 28, 2020. One local Airdrie business will also be drawn to win a $10,000 marketing package.
COVID-19 Business & Community Resources
A government-wide strategy will create jobs and drive investment and diversification in Alberta, while a new consultation will modernize intellectual property in the province. Alberta’s Investment and Growth Strategy (IGS) is a $75-million initiative led by the Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation. In addition a consultation with the technology sector to modernize Alberta’s intellectual property laws will be conducted. Are You a Woman Entrepreneur who Needs Access
to RRRF funds?
Alberta Women Entrepreneurs is offering Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF) financial support directly to women-owned businesses to address COVID-19 impacts on their short-term stability. This financing is for businesses that don't have access to federal relief funding programs and cannot get a loan/credit from traditional financial institutions. More information

 
Targeted Voluntary Asymptomatic Testing
Alberta is shifting to targeted COVID-19 testing to reduce testing wait times, speed up access to results and support Albertans during influenza season and the winter months. Voluntary asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended for other Albertans who have no symptoms and no suspected exposure to COVID-19. More information
 
Updated Youth and Student Supports
The Government of Canada released an update on COVID-19 measures to support youth and students including the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS), Canada Emergency Student Benefit, Canada Summer Jobs 2020, Enhancing Student Financial Assistance for fall 2020 and the Student Work Placement (SWP) Program.
 
Updated Provincial Recovery Plan
The province has released an expanded recovery plan. More information

Bill 32, the Restoring Balance in Alberta’s Workplaces Act was passed by the Alberta Government July 29, 2020. This legislation promises to support economic recovery, restore balance in the workplace and get Albertans back to work.
