Message from the Assistant Director, Alumni Development

Dear Alumni,

As I wrap up my first month as Assistant Director of the Alumni Association at LBCC, I want to say how grateful I am to be welcomed into the Viking family. The staff, students, and alumni of Long Beach City College are amazing and I am so fortunate to have found a home here.

The last month has been filled with planning and executing the Alumni Hall of Fame. It was a humbling experience working with people so dedicated to the College and its impact on the community. We were thrilled to honor alumni Long Beach Vice-Mayor Dee Andrews, Seal Beach Police Commander Stephen Bowles, community volunteer and retired LBCC educator Dr. John Fylpaa, and Attorney Janeen Steel. Make sure you click the link below to see their inspiring stories.

This month please join with us to honor the life of Coach Jake Jacobson. Coach Jacobson coached football and volleyball at LBCC for 39 years and led the Vikings to over a dozen titles. Come celebrate Coach Jacobson at the final home game of the season on November 3. Our associate groups are also working hard to raise funds to support their respective organizations. Learn more about the fun activities Helping Homeless Students and Library and Learning Resources Associates are presenting this month and join them as they work to make our Viking community a better place.

I am excited to continue building on the past accomplishments of the Alumni Association. I look forward to increasing our membership, expanding the benefits of membership, and engaging with our alumni in the community. We will also continue to increase our campus outreach by event participation and partnering with the College.

I would love to hear from you! You can reach me at 562-938-4317 or [email protected].

Go Vikings!

Warm Regards,

Paula Barrow

Long Beach City College Alumni Hall of Fame
We want to thank each of our honorees and their guests for a wonderful evening at The Grand to celebrate Dee Andrews, Stephen Bowles, John Fylpaa, and Janeen Steel's induction into the Long Beach City College Alumni Hall of Fame.

It was a fun-filled event with great company, delicious food, and a well-deserved tribute to four incredible alumni.

Dee, Steve, John, and Janeen - thank you all for your hard work and dedication to our community. Alumni like you are such a monumental part of what makes
Long Beach City College mean as much as it does to so many.

Thank you, and Go Vikings!
