We receive feedback from supporters, volunteers, parents, and party recipients in various ways; it serves as a constant reminder of the importance of the work we do.
Leading up to this year's Gala we worked on a new video that incorporates this important feedback into a video that illustrates why we do what we do. We premiered the video at the Gala and are excited to share it with you! Click here to view.

Help Us Keep the Story Going — Join Our Social Media Team!
For the past few years, a team of four incredible high school students brought Birthday Dreams to life online — sharing stories of joy, celebration, and hope. They’ve now moved on to college (we’re so proud of them!), and we’re looking for the next wave of creative voices to carry the torch!
If you love social media, storytelling, and making a difference, we’d love to have you on our Social Media Team. We’re looking for volunteers who can:

BECU Auto Auction Benefit
On September 16, Birthday Dreams was the benefiting charity of an exciting automobile auction organized by our partners at BECU. This event was a sight to behold. Over 800 cars were auctioned off during the day, and a portion of the proceeds of BECU-auctioned vehicles came to Birthday Dreams!
This fundraiser resulted in over $11,000 donated to Birthday Dreams!
Our sincere thanks to Bill Morris and his BECU team for putting on a tremendously successful FUNdraiser!

BECU
We continue to be so grateful for our partnership with BECU. Organized by Stephanie Monger and lead by Eliseo Banda-Gonzales, volunteers came into the Birthday Dreams office two days before The Gala of Dreams to help us prepare for our big event. They are always ready to work on whatever is the current need and we appreciate that. They were a huge help, and we truly appreciate their continued support. We look forward to hosting them again soon.

WFG Title Insurance Company
Thank you to Jodi Rhor for introducing us to WFG Title Insurance Company. Their volunteers took time out of their weekend to make Goody Bags and Friendship Bracelet Kits for the kids we support. They generously purchased supplies needed for these projects and donated additional supplies for more bracelet kits. We are so grateful for this new partnership.

Aljoya Mercer Island
Thank you to Nichol Buning for bringing Birthday Dreams to Aljoya Mercer Island. We met their fantastic residents who volunteered to decorate and fill our birthday party goody bags. In addition to their thoughtful work, they held a drive prior to our arrival collecting items from our wish list such as toys, art supplies, wrapping paper, and other much needed party supplies.

King County Library System
Thank you to Cynthia Kong for organizing volunteers from the King County Library System to come into the office to help with current needs. On this particular day we needed help making goody bags. We appreciate our volunteers so much and we are so grateful every time KCLS comes to our office to pitch in.

Microsoft Azure Finance
Thank you to Andre Collins for inviting us to be part of Microsoft Azure Finance's 2-day townhall. They generously purchased the supplies to make 350 goody bags and took time out of their meeting to make them. We appreciate being chosen to be part of this event and can’t thank them enough!

Junior League of Seattle
Junior League of Seattle continues to come through for us. Always checking in to see how they can help, they are ready to make a difference. We were down to our last party hats, and they gathered to make them right away. We were getting very low on the goody bags that we send out to parties, and they generously purchased supplies and scheduled time to decorate and fill them. (They’ve already finished the bags, but more about that next month.) Thank you to Tamara Jacobs for continuing to be a strong supporter of the Birthday Dreams Mission and leading this partnership!
| | |
Wizards of the Coast
We are so excited about this new partnership! Thank you to Donna Mink for inviting Birthday Dreams to benefit from an afternoon of volunteering hosted by Shelly Mazzanoble at Wizards of the Coast. They graciously donated all the supplies for 300 birthday party goody bags including their own amazing games. Volunteers spent the afternoon decorating and filling the bags that will be sent to many future parties.

Old Friends Club
Ann Verbeck provided this amazing opportunity for us to partner with the Old Friends Club on Mercer Island. Volunteers gathered to decorate birthday party hats. Their thoughtful work is appreciated, and the kids are going to love these hats.

| | Volunteer of the Year | Laurel Tomchick | | |
At this year’s Gala of Dreams, we were honored to recognize Laurel Tomchick as our 2025 Volunteer of the Year! With so many incredible volunteers who give their time, talents, and hearts to Birthday Dreams, choosing just one person to honor is never easy. But once you see Laurel’s story, you’ll understand why she was selected. Since joining Birthday Dreams in 2013, Laurel has been delivering joy to children across our community — bringing birthday celebrations to 476 kids (and counting)!
Laurel, who learned about Birthday Dreams a decade ago at Renton River days said, "When I look out at the world and wanting to be a part of making it a better place we have to start with our babies and our kids and make sure they know their worth..."
To those considering getting involved, she says, "It is an amazing and fun thing to be a part of for kids and the world around us."
| | | Awesome Cakes Delivered with Love | | This basketball cake by Tasha Kammerzell scored big points with the birthday boy, who was turning 11. Mae McMullin made the delivery. | | This cake by Teri Feely said it perfectly for our 17-year-old birthday girl..."Let's Party!" And that she did with this tasty treat and gifts, including an Ulta gift card, assorted cosmetics, and a makeup bag. Richard Baze made the delivery. | | The birthday girl, who was turning 11, received this fit-for-a-princess cake by Mary Reeder. Jordan Martinez delivered the cake and gifts, including hair accessories, Furzerts Plush, a jewelry box, and hand cream. | | Pretty (and Pink) cake by Claris Winston. | | Minecraft cake by Carolyn Weger. | | Floral cake by Jen Falli. | | Super "five" cake by Chris Wells. | | Hot Wheels cake by Cherie Katana. | | Gaming cake by Lauren Yasuda. | | |
