EMERGENCY PREPARDNESS

Beaux Arts Town Council will practice our yearly emergency preparedness drill on October 21st at 10:21am. We encourage residents to prepare an emergency go bags for each member of their household and practice any home safety plans. Please join us at the five corners mailbox stand if you are interested in learning more about the Town's emergency plans and procedures which are also available on the town website linked here.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday September 12th to discuss the following:

  • Heard an appeal by concerned residents to revise the Town’s Tree Code to focus more on preserving tree health, particularly mature trees, and to adopt the recommendations set forth in the King Conservation District’s Strategic Plan.
  • Passed Ordinance No. 466 adopting a Six-Year Capital Improvement Plan and Transportation Improvement Program for 2024 – 2029.
  • Discussed an amendment to an Interlocal Agreement with King County concerning Community Development Block Grants.
  • Reviewed proposals from two Hearing Examiners responding to the Town’s request.
  • Considered work to date on a Water Rate Study that is needed to ensure that the Water Department, which must be self-funding by law, remains able to meet the costs of operating and maintaining the water-distribution system in Beaux Arts Village.
  • Discussed concerns about enforcing permit conditions related to tree protection, including having the building inspector perform periodic inspections to ensure the conditions are met.
