Joining anytime from October 1-December 31, 2022 activates your membership through December 31, 2023! If you have relatives or friends who would be interested in joining CVOA, please share the CVOA website address with them.
HOMECOMING
CVOA will have membership and waiver forms available at our CVOA table at Sugarloaf Homecoming October 8 & 9. CVOA is staffing a table at Homecoming from 9-5 both Saturday and Sunday. It will be across from the Information Desk on the lower level of the Base Lodge. Come check out the raffle courtesy of Craig Lehigh, renew your membership, see what is already planned for 2023, get an update on remaining ski trip availability or just say "hello" ask questions and offer suggestions. Looking forward to seeing you there!
There will be a Board & Member meeting on Sunday October 9 at 2pm at The Range.
OTHER HAPPENINGS
The autumnal equinox is one of the three seasonal transitions to which CVOA members look forward. As the daily temps drop and daylight shortens, some morning Sugarloaf will report a covering of snow at the top and send along a picture. Then we’ll get excited about the coming of winter. We’ve already seen this enthusiasm for our ski trips. Both Sun Valley and Whitefish are full. Telluride and Quebec only have a few slots left.
The Range will continue to be active through the fall with 5-stand and trap shoots on the weekends. We’ll also see hunters sighting in and sharpening their skills before they go out in the field. And then, we’ll need volunteers to button-up the range for winter.
Leaf Peeping in the Western Mountains should be near its peak during Sugarloaf Homecoming on the holiday weekend of October 8-10. The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry dedicates a website to the topic called Maine Fall Foliage Report at https://www.maine.gov/dacf/mfs/projects/fall_foliage/report/index.shtml .
If you’re interested in learning more about Sugarloaf’s new pumphouse and its projected impact on snowmaking, WSKI has produced a video on the subject. https://wskitv.com/2022/09/23/summit-snowmaking-like-never-before/
