Church Together Toolkit

In coordination with your pastor and congregational leadership, please share these  stories and insights with your congregation , ideally in worship, but also through other communication channels, through faith formation opportunities, etc.

Please seek ways to  share the stories of your congregation’s ministry and witness with the rest of us as you network with other Church Together Ambassadors  in exploring additional avenues for passing along the energy and enthusiasm generated when we gather in Assembly.

Bishop Gonia: Leadership
"Candidacy is the journey of discernment, education, formation, and accompaniment for those in our church preparing for rostered ministry as a deacon or pastor. We in the Rocky Mountain Synod have much to celebrate with our candidates! While we currently have over 40 people in the candidacy process, the Rocky Mountain Synod only receives 1-2 newly rostered ministers each year. As a net producer, we are forming new leaders in the Rocky Mountain Synod that are being sent out to lead across the church, helping to shape the future of our ELCA witness as Christ’s Church, Better Together."
Mission Moment
Candidacy
Ben Hogue, Grand Junction, CO
I feel very blessed to have been accompanied through candidacy by the Rocky Mountain Synod. The support and encouragement have meant a lot along the journey, especially when it gets daunting. Also, being called through a Reconciling in Christ Synod has meant that I can bring my whole self to this process and to the church. I give God thanks for the blessings of the Synod Staff and supportive ministry partners throughout the entire Rocky Mountain Synod!

Prayers and Hymns

God of Wisdom, we pray for all candidates discerning and preparing for a call to ministry. Send your spirit to guide their journey and learning. Grant wisdom and compassion to those who accompany candidates: candidacy committees, synod staff, seminary faculty, family and friends.

Hymn: ELW #579 Lord, You Give the Great Commission
