September Climate Solutions Caucus Round-Up

Dear Stakeholder,

Please see below for highlights from September and a preview of what’s to come.

September Engagement:

Co-Chairs Garbarino and Houlahan discuss the clean energy workforce with the Department of Energy (DOE), community colleges, labor unions, trade organizations, and private sector partners

  • In late September, Co-Chairs Garbarino and Houlahan convened a conversation on ways to bolster the U.S. clean energy workforce and the joint-agency Battery Workforce Initiative. Members were joined by the DOE’s Office of Energy Jobs, the Aspen Institute, Panasonic, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, LYTEN, and Truckee Meadows Community College for this discussion.

  • Staff gathered in early September for a briefing on the role of conserved areas as natural climate solutions and their impact on regional partnerships and national security with the International Conservation Caucus Foundation, Space for Giants, and Conservation International.

  • In late September, Caucus staffers met with Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee minority and majority staffers to discuss the Senate Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024.

Looking Ahead:

In October, the Climate Solutions Caucus will take a pause from programming during the district work period.

In November, Members plan to gather for a discussion on domestic manufacturing and critical mineral supply chains with private sector partners from the transportation sector.

Staff plan to meet three times during October for a series of briefings on clean energy tax credits ahead of the 2025 tax policy discussion.

As always, stakeholders are encouraged to approach the Climate Solutions Caucus with priorities and engagement ideas as the 2024-2025 programmatic calendar continues to develop.
