Thanksgiving Food Collection

The Dublin Food Pantry is preparing for its annual Thanksgiving food collection drive and needs our to help provide about 500 meals for families in need this year. Many of you have contributed to this drive with full meals since we began that 11 years ago. We hope you will continue to participate and we hope more parishioners will join in the effort this year. Please be generous. The need is great. Thank you!

Option 1 — provide an entire Thanksgiving dinner

If you are able to provide one or more meals for a Dublin family in need, please purchase everything from the list in the Sign Up Genius (link below) and bring it in a sturdy box with a lid, or reusable bags, to the Dublin Food Pantry (6608 Dublin Center Dr) on Friday November 1 between 5-7pm or Saturday November 2 between 10am-12pm. The Knights of Columbus will unload the box from your vehicle for you! If you are not available that weekend, you could bring the meal(s) to Hendricks Hall the weekend of October 26-27 before or after all Masses.

To sign up to provide full meals, click here.

Option 2 — Provide boxed mashed potatoes, stuffing or gravy

Parishioners who prefer to donate on a smaller scale can provide boxed mashed potatoes, stuffing or gravy (no glass please) for inclusion in the remainder of the Thanksgiving meals. Collection of the donations will be held on the weekend of October 26-27 in Hendricks Hall before and after all Masses.

If you have any questions, would like to simply make a monetary donation to the pantry, or need to make alternative drop off arrangements, please contact Karen at kaernes@icloud.com or text/call at 614-271-4086.

Can You Serve? Greeters, Ushers, Altar Servers and Eucharistic Ministers Needed

As our parish continues to flourish and grow, so does our need for volunteers before, during or after Masses. Volunteers are assigned on a rotating basis to avoid having any one person serve every weekend. Please consider this call and how you can serve your parish family here at St. Brigid of Kildare.

Eucharistic Ministers

  • All those who are confirmed and are at least 16 years of age or at the pastor’s discretion are invited to participate in this ministry.
  • If you missed the recent training session, ministers can still be trained individually by Deacon Paul. Sign up here or contact Deacon Paul at pjzemanek@yahoo.com if interested.

Altar Servers

  • Anyone in fifth grade or higher may serve as altar servers after completing a training session.
  • If interested, complete this form to be notified of the next training session, or contact Joe Feehan at joefeehan7@gmail.com.

Greeters

  • All individuals and families are invited to serve as greeters to welcome our congregation before Mass.
  • Greeters can be trained individually. If interested, complete this form, or contact Diane Schmeling at dmdschmeling@columbus.rr.com

Ushers

  • Ushers serve the community by recognizing, welcoming and caring for each member of the assembly. Ushers must be a member of St Brigid and in 6th grade or older.
  • If interested, complete this form to be notified of the next training session, or contact George Gillespie at gillespie14@ameritech.net to schedule an individual training session.

Welcome Safety Coordinator, Aaron Quinn

St. Brigid of Kildare School is happy to welcome Aaron Quinn as our school's new Safety Coordinator.

Aaron has decades of experience at the Ohio State Highway Patrol and many years of professional experience serving as a Campus Safety Director. He has certified skills as a self-defense instructor, a field training officer at the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a professional police instructor, and an investigator at the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Aaron worked as the Safety Director and Dean of Students at University of Rio Grande, and as the Dean of Students, Campus Safety Coordinator, and Athletic Director at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He also served as the Athletic Director of Cambridge High School. He is CPR certified and has taught public safety and law enforcement classes to youth.

Aaron comes from Direct Approach Security Services, a business that provides professional high-value asset protective services. The company is licensed and certified by the State of Ohio Homeland Securities, Private Investigator Security Group Services. It provides security officers with current or prior military or law enforcement training and experience. If Aaron is ever unavailable, Direct Approach Security Services will send a substitute officer so there is no lag in coverage.

Aaron will be responsible for safety and security at our school on all days that school is in session. He will be present to assist with arrival and dismissal traffic flow, at school Masses, and during recess and lunch. He will ensure our school building is secure and that all security procedures are followed.

Aaron began his role on Monday, October 7, and has enjoyed meeting the students, teachers, and parents.

Aaron can be reached at 614-718-5825 or mr.quinn@stbrigid-school.org.

High School Youth Ministry Fall Events

We have had a great fall season so far this year, welcoming 85 different teens into our program! The Annual Columbus Catholic Men’s Conference is regarded as one of the largest gatherings of men of faith in the nation — drawing about 2,500 men annually. This one-day event is filled with faith and fellowship, including great speakers, food, faith organizations, Adoration, Reconciliation and the Holy Mass offered by the Bishop.

This year and next, our men of St. Brigid will be in charge of making this conference run smoothly! Our men will oversee everything from parking to registration, meals to seating, and organizing worship and sacramental opportunities. It will take the commitment of more than 100 men from our parish, volunteering on Saturday, February 22, for about 1-2 hours of service. It is a great way to meet other men from our parish, get involved and build your faith. Please consider offering your time and talents to make this a success!

Interested in Becoming Catholic? OCIA Sign Up

"Hello! My name is Pamela. I attended the OCIA program at Saint Brigid. Our class was one of the largest and I was honored to be a part of it. I met many wonderful people and learned what it means to be Catholic. It is a way of life, love and charity in the name of Jesus. I've always loved Jesus although I didn't feel like I knew him. I was raised Methodist. I raised three Catholic children and saw their faith. I went through the program with my teenage grandson. My relationship with Jesus is now very personal. I'm thankful I walked into my grandson's room that day and asked him if he still wanted to become Catholic. He said 'yes' and I said 'me too'." — Pamela (OCIA class of 2024)

If you are interested in becoming Catholic, or just learning more about the process, visit our OCIA (formerly known as RCIA) webpage and complete an inquiry form at www.stbrigidofkildare.org/ocia

Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, USCCB

We strongly urge all parishioners to register, to become informed on key issues, and to vote. The Church does not support or oppose any candidate, but seeks to focus attention on the moral and human dimensions of issues. We do not authorize the distribution of partisan political materials on parish property.

Catholics Care. Catholics Vote.

We vote because we are citizens. But we vote conscientiously because we are people of faith. Our consciences are formed through studying Scripture and the teachings of the Church, examination of the facts, and prayerful reflection.

The link below is an overview from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, intended as a starting point to help us respond to our choices in the current political landscape.
