Consultant Lynnette Brown-Sow (standing at left) led lively discussion at the October board meeting.
At its October meeting, the Bexley Seabury Seminary Board of Directors participated in an animated exchange with Lynnette Brown-Sow of L.M. Management Group on behalf of the In Trust Center through its Wise Stewards Initiative (WSI). WSI is funded in part by a grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. As described by In Trust, the Wise Stewards Initiative uses surveys, assessments, resource readings, interactive faculty presentations, dialogue, and interaction with board members from theological schools to help them reflect on governance, structure, and procedures. Bexley Seabury was one of only 10 American seminaries to be selected to participate this year.
According to Bexley Seabury President Micah T.J. Jackson, “The survey and discussion showed that our Board works well together, and is ready to build on the excellent foundation it has set for itself. BSSF and its predecessor schools have weathered many changes, and now it’s time to grow.”
Throughout the winter, the Board will continue to discuss the results of this first dialogue and discern the strategic goals that will guide the seminary for the next several years. In the spring, four members of the Board will participate in a retreat with the other WSI schools to learn from and share with one another.
