Harry S. Truman High School Environmental Club Wetland Exploration Visit

After school on Thursday, October 6th, Heritage Conservancy Community Programs Associate Kaylyn Brindisi embarked on a wetland exploration visit with the Environmental Club at Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown.

Students learned about and discussed what makes wetland areas unique while exploring nature through the use of field guides and binoculars. To get comfortable in this new outdoor space, students started by playing a round of the Alliance for Watershed Educations "Aqua Marooned!" card game, searching for various signs of life in nature and cleaning up litter along the way.

An old, large, chewed tree stump greeted students as they approached the creek. This evidence that beavers were once nearby was the first of many signs of wetland life students discovered.

A fun afternoon of learning and exploration was had by all during this wetland visit!

Bristol's 46th Annual Historic Bristol Day

On Saturday, October 16th, Heritage Conservancy attended Bristol's 46th annual Historic Bristol Day event at Radcliff St. in Bristol, PA. The tabling event was a huge success! We were able to talk with many members of the community about Heritage Conservancy and what we do.

We connected with community members and handed out prizes to people who played and won our Delaware Canal Trivia game. It was the first time we tried out this particular game, and it was a success. People had fun playing the trivia game and winning a prize; we also received generous donations, and several people signed up to receive our emails.

It was a great event, and we look forward to attending next year.
