Heart Connections - October 2024

For the pets and people of our community, October was another great month! A total of 66 pets were adopted and 66 pets were transferred to adoption-guaranteed partners through our Highway to Home program. One of our greatest successes from the month is the adoption of Luna, who waited 204 days to find her match. GMHS is incredibly thankful to our friends and supporters who ensure we have the resources to give pets like Luna the time necessary to make a lasting heart connection. May Luna and her new family enjoy many happy years together!

October 2024 Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners.

Our team is delighted to announce that the new GMHS website has been launched, thanks to our amazing friends at Consociate Media. It looks fantastic and it's easier than ever to view our adoptable pets, check out our upcoming events, make a donation, fill out a volunteer or foster application, and more! Please take a look and share with your friends.

A way you can give to the shelter animals in a very meaningful way is to give your time! Every year, hundreds of volunteers provide thousands of hours in a variety of ways.

Some volunteer roles include:

- Dog walking

- Cat socialization

- Front desk volunteer

- Transport driver

- Special events

Compassionate Community

GMHS thanks everyone who came out in support of our life-saving mission and attended Shuckin' for Shelter, the GMHS Oyster Roast & BBQ, on October 26! We are most moved by your generosity and support for GMHS.

We are grateful to Little England Farm for graciously hosting the event. Thank you for extending such wonderful hospitality!

Heartfelt thanks to all of our 2024 oyster roast sponsors. When a community comes together, great things happen!

Instead of receiving gifts for his 5th birthday, Leopold asked for donations for our shelter pets. The animals and GMHS team thank you and wish you a wonderful birthday!

Huge thanks to our friends at Gloucester Brewing Company for including our shelter pets in their Howl-O-ween Pawty. A paw-some time was had by all, and we are so grateful for your support!

We were so happy to host our friends with Arise Homeschool Family Co-Op for two field trips this month. They raised $200 to support our homeless pets! We love to inspire the next generation of adopters.
