DSAG Membership Dues

Thank you to those who have already paid your 2018-2019 dues. DSAG membership dues are $25 per year per family and payable as of September 1, 2018. As a reminder...the board voted to put this membership fee into place due to the fact that a small group of families were raising the majority of funds at Buddy Walk but yet everyone was benefiting. Families are required to pay this fee in order to participate in Dollywood, parent workshops or any social event offered, apply for recreational scholarships, take advantage of educational programs, etc. The fee has been set at what is considered a reasonable amount for families. If this causes hardship for your family, please contact DSAG. Thank you for supporting DSAG families and programs. Please pay dues by September 30, 2018. Checks can be made payable to DSAG and mailed to PO Box 53575, Knoxville, TN 37950 or paid by card by clicking the link below.

Kiononia Retreat
for ages 21 and up

This camp was started in the fall semester of 2002 because of the many children who had attended Camp Koinonia in the past and had “aged out” of that program. There are very few opportunities for young adults over the age of 21 with multiple disabilities to engage in appropriate leisure/recreation programs. The program involves more than 50 participants and more than 70 University of Tennessee students. The UT students plan, organize, and conduct the entire weekend program during the fall semester. Koinonia Retreat will be held at the Clyde M. York 4-H Center in Crossville, TN from October 25-28, 2018.

Project Search for Sevier County students

What is Project SEARCH?
The Sevier County High School’s with Project Search Transition Program is a school-to-work program that takes place entirely at Wilderness at the Smokies. The semester-long unpaid internship program combines total workplace immersion with employability skills instruction, career exploration and hands-on training through various departments at the resort. There will be a certified special education instructor, skills trainer and Wilderness staff on-site to guide interns through the program and give them marketable skills for entry level employment in their home community.

I Run 4 Michael is a non-profit organization founded in January 2013 by Tim Boyle, who was inspired to run for more than health and weight-loss by a viral meme saying, “I run because I can. When I get tired, I remember those who can’t run, what they would give to have this simple gift I take for granted, and I run harder for them.” When Tim shared the meme, Michael, a 50-something man with Down Syndrome, replied, “You can run for me any time!”
