Mobile Therapy Unit Makes its Maiden Voyage
The
Encompass Mobile Therapy Unit (MTU) had its maiden client in September at the Sammamish Community YMCA. We are partnering with the Sammamish Y to bring our pediatric therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) services to the Sammamish Plateau area, so the MTU will be there every Wednesday. The next location we are working to reach with the MTU will be Carnation and Duvall later this month.
The MTU, which brings the specialized equipment required for certain types of therapy into underserved communities, is the first of its kind in the state of Washington. The project was generously funded by grants from the Washington Women's Foundation, Northwest Children's Fund, and most recently the Snoqualmie Tribe.

On Monday, Ms. Hannah's and Ms. Shannon's classes went on a fun fall field trip to Oxbow Farms.
The students got to pick and wash carrots, pick sunflower seeds and eat them, pick grapes, and more. These mini-farmers learned about how plants grow, what it takes to help keep them alive, and how to enjoy their rich harvest!

King County Public Health to Provide Additional Support for Early Intervention Families
Encompass is thrilled to announce a collaboration with Maternity Support Services (MSS) through King County Public Health. MSS are preventative health and education services to help a woman have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. MSS can include information and counseling around health concerns, pregnancy and infant health, growth and development, breastfeeding support and referrals to community resources.
A public health nurse will accompany our Birth to Three Early Intervention team into homes where the family is Medicaid eligible. The nurse will be able to provide another layer of in-home support, such as developmental screenings, in-home weight checks, and help with breastfeeding and infant care.

Encompass Partners with Salish Lodge and Spa for Winter Tree-Lighting Ceremony
The Salish Lodge & Spa is inviting all families (especially Encompass families!) to join them for a festive evening at Salish as they light their 20-foot tree. In fact, they want Encompass kids to flip the switch to turn on the lights!
It is completely
FREE to attend, and everyone is welcome. Celebrate the season with hot chocolate, holiday tea and cookies, live music from the Snoqualmie Valley Girls’ Choir, and more.
Then, head into The Country Store to start your holiday shopping, where 20% of all purchases of $100 or more during the tree lighting will be donated back to Encompass.
Thank you to the Salish for supporting local children and families!

Snoqualmie Tribe Awards $10,000 toward Mobile Therapy Unit
Encompass received a grant of $10,000 from the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe to support Encompass Mobile Therapy. This new program brings therapy services to underserved areas using a modified van that has been up-fitted to contain a PCIT lab with a walled off play area, a one-way mirror and therapist area. The PCIT lab doubles as a therapy office to provide mental health, speech, and other therapy. We are grateful and honored to receive this grant from the Snoqualmie Tribe to help us bring this important program to our community.
