NIA Urges Immediate Action on Fraudulent Event Business Practices

In related news, NIA has urged the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to protect associations and their members from fraudulent event marketing. Joining more than 100 associations and organizations, NIA signed onto a letter requesting that the FTC and DOJ immediately address the proliferating fraudulent business practice of selling falsified  association mailing lists and event lists.

These practices of selling illegitimate lists and promoting fake events have serious financial and reputational implications. NIA never sells our member lists and works diligently to protect member data and signed on as a preventive measure to combat these deceptive practices. Click here to read the letter.

PPP Loan Forgiveness Inaction
Despite banks having submitted 96,000 loan forgiveness applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) since Aug. 10, not a single Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan has been forgiven as of this week. Banks are claiming that the major problem is a lack of guidance and communication from the SBA and Treasury. The SBA continues to refer to the statutory time for forgiveness as the reason for the inaction. Click here to read more.
