Celebrating Changing Seasons
|
|
We are celebrating the changing seasons and invite you to explore our recreation activities available this time of the year, both indoors and outdoors. Fall season is a fantastic time to visit our parks, splash in some puddles, enjoy the changing colors, and even spot wildlife.
For those of you missing the long summer days, take a look at this video produced by WWRC (Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition) featuring Meadowbrook Farm, a local open space project made possible by community collaboration, and its far reaching impacts through programs such as our Camp RAD. At our recent Family Fun Event at South Fork Landing, we loved connecting with community members and getting your feedback about most cherished park amenities and ideas for future programming. Please reach out to us at any time with your questions and ideas! This type of open dialogue is extremely valuable and helps us continue to improve our services.
Our Fall program line up includes something for everyone from swim lessons, basketball, pickleball, dance classes and more. The community center and pool, as well as our park spaces are actively used. Pre-registration is necessary for most activities, and with limited space, early registration is recommended.
As we expand options for programming, we are hiring for several positions, including a full-time youth programs coordinator. Open part-time positions include aquatics staff, customer service support, and program leads. Learn more about all our current openings here, and please share with others who may be a great fit for the Si View team.
Fall is the time of the year when our team is actively seeking out external funding support through various grant programs, and planning for projects that typically move to construction in the dry summer season. This year, we will have projects in the active construction phase through the Fall and Winter seasons as well. These include the Tollgate Farm agricultural development project and Tennant Trailhead Park phase I construction. These projects are not expected to have significant impact to public access, but please be attentive to any posted notices on project sites.
Community health continues to be a top priority in all our programs and practices. Wearing a mask is a simple step you can take to protect your health and those around you. Masks are required in all public Si View indoor spaces for everyone, except for children younger than 2. While our outdoor events may not meet the threshold of 500 attendees for the statewide mask mandate, we strongly recommend masks in crowded outdoor settings such as our Fall Harvest Festival and sporting events. We continue to monitor guidelines and industry best practices and adapt our policies as appropriate. Si View Metro Parks recently adopted a policy requiring all staff and contractors to be vaccinated or be subject to weekly testing as a condition of employment. Thank you for your support in keeping our community healthy.
See you at local parks!

Food Trucks Are Back at Si View Park
We miss our Farmers Market already, but the next best thing is a weekly food truck at Si View Park on Thursdays! Mark your calendars for easy weeknight dinner at the park. You can get your order to go, or enjoy it at the picnic tables. Meet up with friends, take a stroll around the park and check out the changing Fall colors, or get in a quick game of kickball, soccer or jungle gym time on the play structures. Check the weekly food truck schedule here.

Future Aquatic Center Planning Update
|
|
In August, we hosted a community meeting to share project updates and gather additional community input for the proposed future aquatic center. If you missed the meeting, the presentation materials are available on our website, along with a summary report of community input received. This was one of several public engagement components, and our community outreach efforts are ongoing. We are currently in the process of completing an update to the proposed project cost estimate. Once that is available, we will be conducting a statistically valid survey to gauge District residents’ level of support in moving forward. This month we are also preparing a grant application to help balance needed community investment.
We welcome your comments and questions, this is a project for the community, by the community. Please reach out to us by calling (425)831-1900 or email us. Stay tuned for more information this Fall, and subscribe to our project e-mail list to receive updates in your inbox.

It's been a while, but our open gym is back up and running. This Fall we are starting with pickleball and basketball. Let us know if you have interest in volleyball or additional play times. Safety is our top priority, please note that all players must complete a health screening prior to entry, and wear a mask when not engaged in game play.
Our current schedule is available here.

Si View Harvest Festival Update
|
|
Registration for our Annual Harvest Festival is now open. Our focus this year is safe and engaging family fun. While event layout will look a bit different this year, including both indoor and outdoor areas to space out participants, many of our perennial favorites are back - such as the petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, carnival games, haunted house and prizes. A timed ticket entry system has been implemented, be sure to order your tickets in advance, as no on-site sales will be available. Get your tickets here.
