Happy Halloween!!

Thank you, everyone, who attended the September Business After Hours on the 12th! A great turnout and Mayor Pat Branson, and her crew, did an awesome job! I always enjoy listening to the “Whippersnappers”!

The Women’s Show is Oct 4/5 th this month. At the Kodiak Convention Center, 5pm to 9pm on Friday the 4 th and 10am to 4pm on Saturday the 5 th ! Thanks, Ellen Simeonoff , for hosting. Kodiak Athletic Club will be there. A great opportunity to get a jump on your holiday shopping!! Always a big turnout!

Oct 5 th , Oktoberfest is being hosted by our local Elks Club! Saturday night from 9pm until 2am Sunday morning. I don’t know any details, but get in touch with Exalted Ruler, Frank Lee! Our famous local group, “Twang” will be playing and I suspect there will be plenty of German food and beer!!

KMXT’s , “Run the Rock” is Oct 12 th ! Bear Valley Golf course, the Marathon starts at 8am! You have the options of, marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k! Check in with Pam, at KMXT, for details!

Our October Business After Hours is in the 15 th ! Ben Millstein is hosting at the Brewery! I am sure there will be beer involved! 5:30-7:00, Split the Pot, door prizes and snacks and fun!! See you there!

Chamber of Commerce, Annual Meeting, Dinner & Awards Gala is October 19 th at the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center!! “Top Secret Spy” is our theme! Shhhh don’t tell anyone! 6:00-10:00pm, formal or your best spy attire. Bella Aqua Photography will be capturing photographic evidence all evening. Annual Recognition Awards will be presented to our local businesses and individuals. Who will win this year? All part of the mystery! Split the Pot and a chance to win 2 Alaska Airlines ticket and other prizes! Glenn Reed, soon to be retired President of Pacific Seafoods Processing Association, will be our key note speaker. No host Cocktails start the evening, and dinner will be provided by our very talented Kodiak High School Culinary Arts FCCLA students. Please RSVP by Friday, October 11 th ! This is always a fun time!

The “Crucible” by Arthur Miller, directed by Jared Griffin, will be presented October 26-27 th and November 1-3 rd ! At the Gerald C. Wilson auditorium, you don’t want to miss this one! Includes a very talented cast!

BAH | Kodiak Senior Center 
The Chamber would like to thank, the Kodiak Senior Center for holding Septembers BAH. Where they gave tours of the accredited facilities and tours of the KATS bus. The Whippersnappers performed an array of music and kept the crowd entertained while refreshments were severed, people networked and won some wonderful prizes.

Shop The Rock | Salmon Life
The Fall 2019 Shop the Rock event took place on Wednesday, September 25th - Saturday, September 28th. The end of the shopping event culminated in Salmon Life events held on Sunday, September 29th. 

The bi-annual shopping event showcased 15 different stores and a food truck, spanning from Downtown to Midtown. Thanks to all vendors who participated! Both the Chamber of Commerce and Discover Kodiak were proud to be a part of this event, and we continue to look forward to its vast growth potential.

  • 10/17 & 10/24 - Excel II Workshop | 4:00-5:30pm at Kodiak College | $45 | Learn to use the Excel Function Library to guide you with more complicated Excel formulas. Other topics include sorting, filtering, print options in addition to using charts and images.   • 10/18-10/19 - DC Electrical for Vessels | 9:00am-4:00pm at Kodiak College | $100 | This is a 12-hour workshop for all beginners -women, and men- who want to learn basic theory and practices of direct current electricity aboard vessels. Registration is required $100.   • 10/25-10/26 - Outboard Maintenance and Repair | 8:00am-5:00pm at Kodiak College | $125 | This is a two day (16-hour) workshop covering theory and hands-on maintenance of 2-stroke and 4-stroke outboard engines of 25-horsepower and larger.
