PROMOTING QUALITY OUTCOMES & RESILIENCE AFTER STROKE

Dr. Steven Edgley is the Director of Stroke Rehabilitation at the University of Utah and a stroke survivor. He recently presented on post-acute stroke recovery to a remote clinical audience. He shared his own experience as well as insights into the innovative therapies and treatments offered by U of U Health and Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital.

NEW COVID VACCINES AND OTHER UPDATES

Wednesday, October 2nd from Noon to 1 pm (MT) the Monthly Affiliate Call will discuss the two new COVID vaccines along with other trending topics in the Mountain West. Dr. Ted Kimball, Medical Director of the Office of Network Development and Telehealth, will lead the discussion. CME credit offered.

PUBLIC HEALTH AND DISASTERS CONFERENCE

The University of Utah Division of Public Health, Utah Department of Health and Human Services, and the Salt Lake County Health Department will host the Annual Public Health & Disasters Conference. The conference is held Thursday, October 10th and Friday, October 11th at the Viridian Events Center in West Jordan, UT. This multidisciplinary conference brings together professionals to exchange ideas to improve public health and emergency preparedness and response. A fee is associated with this event. CME credit offered.

UTAH TRAUMA NETWORK ANNUAL CONFERENCE

On Thursday, October 24th the Utah Trauma Network Conference is being held in conjunction with the Utah Pediatric Trauma Network Conference. Nurses, Trauma Program Managers, EMS professionals, and other trauma care health professionals are invited to attend the conference at the Blair Education Center in Park City, Utah. A fee is associated with this event. CME credit offered.

IDAHO SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED CARDIOPULMONARY DISEASE & TRANSPLANT

Friday, October 25th from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm U of U Health will host the first Idaho Symposium on Advanced Cardiopulmonary Disease & Transplant. The symposium is for providers (including PCP, hospitalists, cardiologists, pulmonologists) in Idaho to gather and share best practices and new therapies. Please register in advance. A fee is associated with this event. CME credit offered.

POTS & BEYOND CONFERENCE

POTS & Beyond is a hybrid, two-day conference focused on educating healthcare professionals about Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and related disorders. This year's event will feature experts and programs dedicated to pediatric and adolescent POTS and related disorders. It will take place Friday October 25th and Saturday, October 26th at the U of U campus as well as on Zoom. A fee is associated with this event, CME credit offered.

TRAUMA UPDATE

NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH


October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is an alarming and pervasive problem in our country. The University of Utah Trauma program offers resources to support awareness and will distribute materials to affiliates on how to approach this topic with your patients and communities. Contact Ruth Braga for more info.
