Krill Carson, founder and president of the New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance (NECWA), will introduce us to a few of the “marine misfits” who share our local waters – including basking sharks, torpedo rays, triggerfish, and ocean sunfish. Learn more about Krill and NECWA here.

Baker's Pond Conservation Area

Enjoy the fall colors on this 1.75-mile walk on adjoining conservation lands around the “great pond” that straddles Orleans and Brewster.

Meet at 80 Baker’s Pond Road, Orleans.

Volunteers Needed!

Attend a training to become a Volunteer Land Steward, and help OCT monitor and maintain our protected lands. Volunteers will be assigned to a specific OCT property (or a couple if desired) and will receive training on reading maps to find boundaries, identifying maintenance needs or issues, and reporting certain flora and fauna to OCT.

We will offer trainings on Wednesday, 10/18 10:30-noon and Wednesday, 10/25 from 10:30-noon, with a lunch provided afterward. Volunteers need only attend one of the two trainings. Please join this important effort!

Orleans Conservation Trust is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1970. Over its 50-year history, the Trust has preserved more than 660 acres in Orleans. Among the most active land trusts on Cape Cod, OCT stewards a range of ecosystems, from freshwater ponds and wetlands to saltmarshes, wooded upland, and coastal grasslands, managing its lands to protect and enhance wildlife habitat, restore native ecosystems, and provide public recreation and education through a network of trails and informational signage. OCT also educates residents and visitors about important natural values and environmental issues in Orleans and around Cape Cod via guided walks, free lectures, its website, newsletter, and other communications.
