Community Action Partnership
Building a Bigger Table
Community Action's Gathering Place has opened their doors to provide free evening meals to Lincoln neighbors who needed them for four decades. Guests are welcomed each evening with a simple promise: a warm meal, a safe place to gather, and support without judgement.
After 44 years of serving meals at the grand old house on the corner of 15th and E streets, Community Action’s Gathering Place is actively preparing to move to a larger home at 919 S. 12th Street. The new facility will offer nearly twice the space of the current location.
The Gathering Place plans to serve its first meal at 919 S. 12th Street in fall 2027. They are looking to raise $2.5 million more to be able to renovate this space to meet community needs

Finding Fall Vaccines
Respiratory vaccines—for flu, RSV, and Covid-19—should be available at no cost this fall but you may not be able to access all yet. What’s happening:
RSV monoclonal antibodies - low stock: Clinics and hospitals are ordering fewer doses than needed, afraid insurance won't cover it.
COVID: More than 80% of people get their Covid-19 vaccines at pharmacies, but some states might not cover it. Approval for childhood Covid vaccines are being held up at the CDC. This means it’s unlikely your kid can get a Covid-19 vaccine at this time.
Flu vaccine access is running normally covered by public and private insurance.
Measles: Pennsylvania just reported its fourth measles-associated death. This marks the most measles deaths in the U.S. since 1992. Vax you kids now.

Breast cancer impacts millions of women and their families annually, but with early detection and proper care, survival rates could improve significantly.
Regular mammograms are key to early detection. If you haven’t had a screening recently, now is a great time to make an appointment with your healthcare provider.

Keeping Parents on the Job,
Babies Dry
Most local daycares require parents to provide a full supply of disposable diapers; without them, babies cannot attend daycare, which often causes parents to miss work or lose wages.
The Junior League of Lincoln collects diapers for Lincoln Littles who distributes them to children receiving care through one of Lincoln Littles’ qualified child care providers so families won’t have to keep their child home from child care due to a lack of diapers. To volunteer time or hold a diaper drive, contact the JLL Diaper Bank - diaperbank@jll.org
