Important Financial Aid Information

Financial Aid for the 2019-2020 Academic Year

On October 1, 2018 students were able to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and complete the FGCU Foundation Scholarship Application for the 2019-2020 school year.

Students and parents can simplify the FAFSA by retrieving their 2017 tax return data directly from the IRS using the data retrieval tool. Using the data retrieval tool is the easiest way to provide your tax information and is the best way of ensuring that your FAFSA has accurate tax return information. By filing this application, you are applying for federal and state grants, college Work Study, and student loans. Go to www.fafsa.gov to complete your application.

FGCU Foundation scholarships are awarded annually on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, major of study and/or other specifications set by donors. All current students should apply for FGCU Foundation scholarships. Completing a FAFSA form is not required to be eligible for FGCU Foundation scholarships; however, it is highly recommended to complete a FAFSA annually in order to maximize all need-based financial aid and scholarship opportunities. For more information and to apply, students should visit our website .

Students are encouraged to complete their applications early. Students who apply by January 1st will be given priority.

Last Day To Drop A Class

November 2 is the last day for a student to withdraw/drop a class with no academic penalty. Please advise your student to talk to their advisor before making this decision, but also be aware of the timeline to do so.
Registration for Spring Semester Classes

Class Registration for the spring semester opens beginning October 22 with most first year students able to register on November 7 or 9! Your student has been assigned a time when they can register, based on their academic standing , but help them be prepared to register when their time comes! If your student has any questions about registration for classes for the Spring semester, please encourage them to reach out to their academic advisor as soon as possible.

First Year students will not be able to register for classes until they complete the following:

  • The online, interactive My Student Body course covering the topics of alcohol, drugs, and sexual violence;
  • The active shooter training course found on their Canvas account;
  • The online Hazing Prevention module;
  • All required meetings with their academic advisor.

The best way for a student to know if they are all clear to register for courses is by checking the 'Holds' screen in their Gulfline account.
Students can apply to be part of Eagle View Orientation!
