Greetings!

As we embrace Fall, the individuals we serve are taking advantage of the beautiful weather with walks in the park and trips to the pumpkin patch to prepare for Halloween festivities.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 24th and plan to attend our sensory friendly Trunk or Treat. Individuals can enjoy treats and Halloween fun in a welcoming setting where they can participate at their own pace.

We are seeking volunteers and community partners to participate by hosting a trunk or donating toward the event. See the link and flier below for more information! To host a trunk, bring your car and decorate your open trunk (or set up a table) to welcome trick-or-treaters. Donations toward the event will go toward sensory-friendly activities such as face/body-painting, dance tent, or even therapy animals!

Shore was nominated for this grant by HUB International, our employee benefits broker. Thank you, HUB!

Invest in Inclusive Living

One of the most impactful services that Shore provides is access to affordable and supported residential homes that allow individuals to live in their communities. Shore is committed to maintaining our current residences, as well as expanding our housing.

The John and Alice Lloyd Foundation has recently made a generous matching gift toward the renovation of one of our residential properties. Once renovated, the property will allow five new residents to access housing with 24-hour supports.

If you would like to contribute toward this project, or any other property, reach out to Kristina Phillips at kphillips@shoreservices.org.

Thank you to the John and Alice Lloyd Foundation for your generous support!

Time for fall art projects! Jessica Payne, Direct Support Professional (DSP), instructs Michael (l.) and Danny on ways they can decorate an apple craft.

Patrick (l.) and Michael are volunteering for the Skokie Public Library delivering books and other library materials for Skokie residents who are temporarily or permanently homebound. This is a new partnership that started in October and occur once a month.

Scott, Emilie, and Louis strolling through Skokie North Shore Sculpture Park.

Izzy asked Khiyona Winfert, Direct Support Professional (DSP) if they could take a selfie while out for a walk at the Skokie North Shore Sculpture Park.

America, aka "Meri", Skokie's Comfort Dog, came to visit the Lois Lloyd Center last week. She is seen with David and Joyce and they enjoyed petting her.

Taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather are Bobby (l.) and David. They went to Dee Park for a walk and David stopped to stretch. He is working with Dr. Romil Sood, to increase his dexterity. We strongly encourage the individuals we serve to live healthy and exercising plays a big part.

Diane and David went looking for the perfect pumpkins at a patch in Niles. They are getting ready for a pumpkin decorating contest at the Lois Lloyd Center.
