A Message from Raquel Rose, Interim Superintendent
Over the course of the last year and a half, our District has engaged in some very deep and reflective work around Equity. Over 220 parents/community members and educators have attended a Pacific Education Group (PEG) – Courageous Conversations workshop/event to learn and engage in dialogue about implicit biases as they relate to race, ethnicity, and cultural differences. We have teacher leaders providing interest-based professional development around cultural competency as well as collaborating with the City of Mill Valley and the Tamalpais Union High School District to offer a screening of A Light in the Darkness on November 15 at 7:00pm.

These incremental steps help us actively address the needs of all students while getting our community more informed about how best to serve each and every child. This work is intense, it is challenging, and it is thought provoking – but it is the work we must do as a community. I am excited to see our district-wide Equity Committee begin to form and look forward to continuing down this reflective path with our Mill Valley community!
