Family Dinner at St. Mary’s offers food, connection, and learning

Thank you to everyone who attended our Family Dinner in September! We had a beautiful evening together, and both the children and the adults had an opportunity to get to know other members of the community on a deeper level.

We are excited to announce that we have received a "Mustard Seed" grant from the diocese to use towards this program. The grant money will help cover the cost of food and the books we are using for our Read-along program! Thanks to Kimberly Somarriba for taking the initiative to find the grant and apply for it!

Our next dinner is a next Wednesday and we hope you will join us - pizza and salad is on the menu! RSVP on our website.

Our Fall Theme: Walk in Love

Walk in love as Christ loved us, and gave himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to God. - Ephesians 5:2

In October, we will read books that help us consider how to love ourselves like God loves us.

Read-a-long: BIG

This month's read-a-long is "BIG", written by Vashti Harrison. Our reader this month is Sara Barker. Sara is a member of the vestry and she's the one who changes our church sign! She attends church with her husband Chris and her son Leo.

Look for a hard copy of the book in the Chapel when you head into church on Sunday.

As we walk in love, how can we love ourselves?

Conversation starters from BIG:

Have you ever felt judged for being simply who you are?

Have you ever judged someone else for being who they are?

Can you remember a time when you felt happy being your true self without judgment? Where and who were you with, and what were you doing?

Have bigger kids?

Check out Continental Drifter, by Kathy Macloed, a graphic novel about a young girl who travels between Maine and Thailand and tries to discover where she belongs.

FAMILY DINNER: October 16

Everyone in the St. Mary's Family (that means you!) is invited to join us for our monthly intergenerational Family Dinner in St. George's Chapel from 6-8pm. We will eat our meal together and then the children and adults will have separate programs. The evening will end with the brief service of Compline service. Dinner is provided.

Please RSVP!

ASK A PRIEST

This month's question comes from Aurelia Zwilling:

How did church get together?
