Thank you, Rancho Cordova

The City of Rancho Cordova and the Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) would like to thank the community for its outpouring of support and sympathy in the wake of the September 17, 2018 shooting that resulted in the death of Rancho Cordova Police Officer/Sacramento County Sheriff Deputy Mark Stasyuk. From the messages, cards, food, flowers and blue ribbons, the support is very much appreciated.

Rancho Cordova Mather Heritage Trail Now Open!

The City of Rancho Cordova is celebrating the opening of the Mather Heritage Trail! The Mather Heritage Trail is a new 1.4-mile bike and walking trail that starts at the Mather Field/Mills Light Rail Station, crosses Highway 50, and continues to the Mather Commerce Center in the City. The trail features new lighting and landscaping, 200 new trees, and a connection to regional transit. View the trail map

2018 California Capital Airshow

Rancho Cordova celebrated 100 years of Mather Airport in a HUGE way with a thrilling series of aerobatic performers, thundering jets, exciting pyrotechnics, a massive wall of fire and more. Thank you to all who came out to celebrate and honor the heritage of Rancho Cordova at this year's airshow. Until next year! 

City Receives Golden Baton from US Army Golden Knights
At the 2018 California Capital Airshow, the US Army Golden Knights presented the City of Rancho Cordova and the Rancho Cordova Police Department with the Golden Baton from their performing team.

Reminder: Barrel District Experience Tickets on Sale
Tickets are still on sale for the October 6th, 2018 Rancho Cordova Barrel District Experience! The event, organized by the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce, will feature all nine Barrel District locations and will include craft beer, spirits and mead, along with food pairings. The event is scheduled for October 6, 2018. Learn more and purchase tickets

Coming Soon
Jersey Mike's Subs is coming soon to Rancho Cordova and will be located at 2808 Zinfandel Drive. Sunridge Plaza, on Sunrise Boulevard and Douglas Road, will also see a few new businesses open soon, including NG Cleaners, Soho Sushi, and Stride 55.

Williamson Elementary Field Trip to City Hall
Students from Williamson Elementary took a field trip to City Hall for a mock City Council Meeting with City of Rancho Cordova Mayor Linda Budge. Students had the opportunity to discuss the City's ordinance regarding chicken and rooster ownership.

Making Cordova High Athletes Safer
In 2016, the City's Community Enhancement Fund funded a three-year grant to make Rancho Cordova the first City in the nation to purchase helmet-based head impact monitoring technology, as well as 180 football helmets from Riddell, to help prevent head injuries and concussions and keep students at Cordova High School safer. Cordova High Cross Country Receives New Gear
The Cordova High School Cross Country team has rapidly grown from 10 students three years ago to 25, outgrowing their gear and uniforms. Professional runner and Boston Marathon Medalist Shadrack Biwott teamed up with Brooks Sports Inc. to donate uniforms, running shoes and workout clothes to the entire team. Learn more

Rancho Cordova Library Has New Hours

After being closed for renovations during the month of September 2018, the Rancho Cordova Library has re-opened and has expanded its hours of operation. The library will now be open on a regular basis during the following times: 
  • Monday-Thursday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM 
  • Friday-Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM 
  • Sunday: 12:00 - 5:00 PM

Anne Frank Exhibit at the MACC

The Anne Frank Exhibit is coming to the MACC in Rancho Cordova and will run from October 11-13 and October 18-20. The exhibit features an open gallery, free workshops, a conversation with Japanese internment survivor and Holocaust survivor, a showing of the Remembering Anne Frank documentary and more. The event is free to attend and was made possible by the Cordova Community Council and the City's Community Enhancement Fund. Learn more

Will your child turn 5 years old on or before December 1, 2018? Registration for the 2019-2020 school year begins January 9, 2019 for Rancho Cordova schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District. Learn how to register

Get your classroom involved in Fire Prevention Week!

This year, Fire Prevention week is October 7-13, 2018. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District is encouraging classrooms to submit an entry in the Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest for a chance to win a pizza party and $100 gift card for their school or program. Learn more

USI Insurance Services Gives Back in Rancho Cordova

USI Insurance Services held their "USI Gives Back" campaign to volunteer for projects across the Sacramento region, with 19 volunteers completing 76 hours of service in Rancho Cordova. Learn more
