Addressing Homelessness in Rancho Cordova

The City of Rancho Cordova, in partnership with the Rancho Cordova Police Department, the City's Code Enforcement team and Homeless Navigator, as well as regional partners, is committed to taking a proactive approach to solving homelessness.

At the October 2nd Council meeting, the City's Reinvestment Analyst will present the City's Homeless Action Plan, a summary of key actions the City is taking this fiscal year to address unlawful activities, as well as to connect homeless individuals  to resources and housing, at the October 2nd City Council Meeting.

Get Storm-Ready!

Fall is here! Trees will begin dropping leaves over the coming months, which can clog storm drains and cause flooding. Do your part by removing debris and leaves from your gutters, and sweep away leaves that are on or near storm drains prior to rainfall to ensure water can quickly flow into the City's drainage system.

Remove damaged or weak tree branches to minimize risk of them falling over in the wind. Eligible residents with dead trees or stumps in their yards can apply for grant funding for dead tree removal. Stay tuned for sandbag distribution times and locations.

Operations & Maintenance Division Moves to Corp Yard

Many cities have a corporation yard, often called a "corp yard," and the City of Rancho Cordova now has one too. The City's Operations and Maintenance Division, which  oversees the operation and maintenance of the City's infrastructure, including streets, signs, trees, storm water, sound walls, and Public Works vehicle fleet, is now housed at the Corp Yard.

The City of Rancho Cordova expects the new Corp Yard will improve control of inventory and increase efficiency for addressing critical issues.

Turning Food Waste into Something New

Wasted food means wasted money. Plus, when food waste breaks down in landfills, it produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. Businesses that produce at least four cubic yards of food waste per week are required to arrange for composting services, and residents are encouraged to be mindful at home and while eating out to reduce food waste.
