Team Habitat Monterey Bay - Building a Stronger Community Together

At Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay, our team spends time advocating, spreading awareness and partnering with aligned organizations. October has been full of growth from CEO Catherine Stihler sharing her journey to Habitat with the Carmel By The Sea Rotary to attending local celebrations for Rancho Cielo, Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce Legacy of Leaders and the Community Action Board's 60th Anniversary.

Board Member Spotlight: FRANK HALASZ

Frank has been a regular construction volunteer with Habitat Monterey Bay on and off since 2011. He joined Habitat as a Board member in 2025, but continues his weekly volunteer shift working at our construction sites.

To Frank, Habitat represents the pure joy of building something with his hands after a career spent in front of a computer screen. More importantly, it is a chance to give back to his community by helping to solve the biggest issue facing our Monterey Bay community - affordable housing.

Thank you, Frank, for your years of commitment to building a better future, one home at a time.

Honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Connection, Compassion, and Community at the ReStore

The Habitat Monterey Bay administrative team is grateful for the opportunity to work from the Watsonville ReStore. Being in this space has strengthened daily connections with staff and volunteers; creating more collaboration, inspiration, and alignment across the organization.

This month, the team gathered at the ReStore in Watsonville to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in a fitting setting that brought everyone together in support and solidarity.

“Regular interaction with the ReStore staff and volunteers has enriched our collaboration, resulting in increased engagement and inspiration within Habitat Monterey Bay,” shared Development Director Helen de Young.

The commitment of ReStore staff and volunteers continues to make a meaningful difference. Together with the administrative team, they create a welcoming, productive environment that advances our shared mission: building homes, fostering community, and providing hope across Monterey Bay.
