The West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority is pleased to support the Dearborn Historical Museum's annual fundraiser happening Friday, October 8 from 6 - 11 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Commandant's Quarters in West Downtown at 21950 Michigan Avenue.

Tickets cost $30 in advance or $35 at the door, and include six tokens for beer samples from Dearborn establishments such as The Jolly Pumpkin, Dearborn Brewing Company and Downey Brewing Company. Additional tokens are available for a purchase of $2 each. A silent auction and 50/50 raffle will also be part of the fundraiser.

This Halloween-themed event will have musical entertainment from Atomic Radio playing hits from the 80s and 90s, and activities such as yard games, tarot card readers and spooky encounters. Downtown Dearborn restaurant Noah's Smokehouse will have their signature BBQ available for purchase.

Wearing a costume to the event is optional, but encouraged! We hope you'll join us to support the Dearborn Historical Museum and enjoy some spooky fun in Downtown Dearborn.

The Dearborn Public Library offers many great programs throughout the year and each month there is something new and exciting to look forward to!

The "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" program encourages parents and caregivers of young children to participate, to harbor a love of books and reading early in a child's life. Find out more about the program here.

  • Corrado Parducci was a Detroit-based Italian American architectural sculptor whose work can be seen throughout Metro Detroit, especially in Dearborn.

  • Learn about the copper mining strike of 1913, which inspired Mark Doria Russell, the 2021 - 11 Great Michigan Read Author, to write her novel The Women of the Copper Country.

Friends of the Library-Dearborn (FOLD) BOOK Sale

  • The FOLD Book Sale is held on the Second Wednesday of the month from 10AM-6PM. Books, magazines, audiobooks, movies, and more are located in the 1st Floor Rotunda and in Room 113.

The History of Oil: Major Pivots

  • Have you ever wondered about oil? Its History? It is a fascinating story. In this online program, Karen Jensen, Penn State University instructor, will go over some of the major pivots in oil industry history.

Friendly reminder!!! The deadline for survivors of the June 25 –26 severe storms and flooding to register with FEMA for individual disaster assistance has been extended to Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

The extension applies to survivors living in Wayne and Washtenaw counties.
FEMA assistance for individuals and families can include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property losses and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.

Individuals can register with FEMA online at or through the mobile app. By phone, call 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585). The toll-free numbers are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET seven days a week.

In-person assistance remains available at FEMA centers in southeast Michigan. Individuals can visit any open center to get the help they need with the federal assistance process. To find the location closest to you, visit FEMA’s DRC locator page .

Pumpkin Carving - Fun for Kids and Adults!

Join us for some Fall fun at Downtown Dearborn's Pumpkin Carving Day, Saturday, October 30. We will have two times and locations to choose from:

10 a.m. - 12 p.m. in Wagner Park (located at Monroe & West Village Drive behind Wagner Place)


1:00 - 3:00 PM in City Hall Park (13615 Michigan, in front of Artspace Lofts)

We will supply the pumpkins and some carving tools. Bring extra carving tools if you have them and a container to keep your seeds if you want. All ages welcome. Artists are encouraged to dazzle folks with their designs too!

Downtown Dearborn Trick or Treat Returns!
Downtown Dearborn is excited to bring Trick-or-Treat back for the 2021 Halloween season! Bring all your little trick-or-treaters to participating businesses and treat your kids to some ~spooktacular~ fun!

Come on out for Trick-or-Treating on Saturday, October 30 from 2-4 p.m. in the West Downtown and 4-6 p.m. in the East Downtown.

This is a free event at participating downtown merchants. A list of participating businesses and a map of locations will be available soon!

Shop Small is a district-wide promotion to encourage the community to shop local this holiday season. It runs from November 27 - December 5. To participate, businesses are asked to submit a $25 participation fee, offer a discount or promotional item, and $25+value gift certificate or product for Downtown Dearborn to raffle off to shoppers who participate.

This promotion will be featured on radio and TV ads, as well as website and social media advertising. It is a great way to get more people to visit your business during the holiday season.

We have two winter markets on the schedule for this holiday season. The Shop Small Kickoff event will host vendors in City Hall Park on Saturday, November 27, and the Winterfest Market will be Saturday, December 11 in Wagner Park. Featuring artisan goods, jewelry, vintage items, cottage food sellers, holiday greens, decor, and much more, these markets is an excellent opportunity for local micro-businesses to take advantage of peak holiday shopping.

These all-day markets will get a visit from Santa and his reindeer and host various festive entertainments throughout the day.

For Shop Small Kickoff, the vendor cost is $35 per booth and vendors must supply their own table, chairs and tent set up. For Winterfest Market, the vendor cost is $60 and vendor booths will be located inside a large heated tent.
