Rainbow Village Ribbon Cutting

On Friday, October 23, HomeAid Georgia joined Builder Captain Varium Construction Group and its trade partners to celebrate the completion of Rainbow Village’s Community Center Renovation Project. The renovation transformed a former daycare space into an Adult Learning Center, expanding opportunities for families as Rainbow Village grows its campus capacity from 30 to 66 families with the addition of new apartment buildings.

Thanks to the generosity of Varium Construction Group and the following trade partners, Rainbow Village saved $50,000 on a total construction value of $59,000 through donated labor and materials.

Melanie Conner, Rainbow Village CEO expressed, "The renovation of our Community Center is an exciting step forward in expanding the opportunities and resources available to the families we serve. Our new Adult Learning Center will provide a dedicated space for families to build skills, pursue personal growth and work toward long-term stability and independence. We are incredibly grateful to HomeAid Georgia, Varium Construction Group and their generous trade partners for making this transformation possible."

Five Impactful HomeAid Care Days

The Center for Young Children & Adults (CCYA)

On October 2, a group of 37 volunteers from JW Collection built a new pergola, cleared out old gardens, primed interior walls for painting and removed old tile flooring in the laundry room.

A special thank you Deck Designs for donating labor and Builders FirstSource for donating lumber for the pergola.

Volunteers from Northview Church completed another HomeAid Care Day on October 10.

The team refreshed the facility by painting interior walls and clearing debris from above the ceiling tiles. Thank you to Sherwin-Williams for donating the primer and paint.

The Center for Children & Young Adults (CCYA) is a nonprofit organization based in Marietta, Georgia, that provides safe housing and comprehensive support for homeless and at-risk youth in the foster care system, generally ages 16–20. Lydia's Place

HomeAid Georgia returned to Lydia’s Place in Athens for two Care Days in October in partnership with Athens Area Habitat and Athens HBA.

Juneau Construction volunteers joined the effort on October 8, followed by Lennar Atlanta on October 14. Together, they helped construct some of the small cottages in a 15-home community designed to support young adults transitioning to independence.

Lydia’s Place is a nonprofit serving young adults ages 17–24 who have experienced foster care or housing insecurity. Based in Watkinsville, near Athens, Georgia, the organization helps young people build stable, independent futures through housing, education and supportive services.

Our House

On October 16, Brightwater Homes completed a Care Day at Our House. A group of seven volunteers helped create an outdoor classroom by installing a sun shade sail, spreading mulch, placing and painting tree trunk seats, completing a storage shed, and building raised garden beds.

A special thank you to Builders FirstSource for generously donating the lumber and hardware for the shed.

Our House is a nonprofit organization that helps families with young children overcome homelessness and achieve long-term stability and independence. Its approach addresses the root causes of homelessness by connecting families with safe housing, early childhood education, healthcare and employment resources.

2,000 HomeAid CareKits Distributed

Forty volunteers from Fischer Homes came together to assemble 1,000 HomeAid CareKits on October 2. This effort marked an exciting milestone as HomeAid Georgia expanded its CareKit recipient reach to the Albany area for the first time. The essential hygiene kits were distributed through I&A Divyne Purpose, providing essential hygiene items to individuals and families in need.

On October 28, a group of Northview Church volunteers packed 1,000 HomeAid CareKits. The essential items were distributed to Project U First, a nonprofit organization that helps people experiencing homelessness and children living in underserved communities by providing essential hygiene products and personal care supplies.
