With the falling leaves continuing to speckle lawns and bonfires keeping us warm, we have welcomed October with open arms. This month we'll look back over the dredging project, discuss the upcoming board election, continue to garner interest in private dredging, and look forward to future events at Lake Lemon!

Manager's Minute

As I write this manager’s minute it is in the 50’s temperature wise and finally starting to feel like fall. The lack of rain has not blessed us with a spectacular leaf showing, yet I am still looking forward to cool boat rides with hoodies and warm drinks. Over the next few weeks, the LLCD will begin to take our vessels off the water for winterization and we will transition to office and prep work for the upcoming year. Beginning November 1st, office hours will be by appointment only, so please reach out via email or a phone call if you need to meet in person.

I would be remiss to not thank everyone for your due diligence towards safety and patience as we navigated the ever-changing dredging infrastructure this year. It was a ceaseless task trying to mark safe passage zones and notify lake users of the hazards. Thankfully we ended the project with no bodily harm and a few dinged-up props, primarily. The amount of work that was accomplished was awe striking and it would not have been possible without your support.

The LLCD staff and I wish everyone happy holiday's and hope your season ending projects go swimmingly.

As always, it’s a pleasure to serve,

Adam Casey

LLCD District Manager

That's a Wrap on Dredging

The 2024 hydraulic dredging project has come to an end. The barge was removed from the water on September 20th and all other associated equipment has been demobilized and trucked off. It is amazing how much material was being moved utilizing this technology. Over 137,000 yards of sediment was removed during 2024. Cumulatively, the projects spanning 2022-24' removed over a 1/4 million yards of sediment and reclaimed close to 80 surface acres for safe recreation. Since the inception of the Sediment Removal Project in 2006, approximately 420,000 yards of material have been removed; with 65% of that occurring in the past 3 years. For more information please check out the dredging update from the September 26th board meeting HERE.

2025 Boat Race Survey

Lake Lemon is considering allowing the Indiana Outboard Association to host a power boat race at Riddle Point in May of 2024. This would be a fundraiser at the park during the spring off season, residents would be able to attend via boat for free. Please answer our quick survey questions HERE.

Missed the discussion about this? Check out September's Board Meeting to hear what Operations Manager Ross Carlson has put together regarding this potential event HERE.

Winter Boat Storage

This winter we are happy to provide outdoor boat storage again at Riddle Point Park. The fee per boat is $250, and this will operate strictly as a drop-off storage option.

Watercraft drop-off will now take place on Saturday October 26, 2024 between 10am and 3pm. You must pickup no later than Saturday March 29, 2025. You can have someone come shrink wrap, but no winterization shall take place in the park.
