Happy October Shoe Lovers!

Oh this is my favorite time of year! I love it when it starts to feel crisp outside. I love it when the leaves start to turn colors. I love the debate of whether or not I should wear socks.

Good times at the Paris Fashion Show last month. Thank you all for coming. It was a very fun night. I was told I was a bit chatty for a mime - I do love to dress up. Hope you liked my little mime outfit. The food was fabulous - Magdalenas & Quel Fromage were outstanding! Thank you Kelli from Studio Beausoleil for the fabulous tans!

We have some fun stuff happening this month - go a day barefoot with Sole4Souls on 10/11/12 and see if you can spot the Finnegan princess family (including the dog) on Oct. 31st for trick or treating in Fairhaven.

We have a super fun Gallery Walk planned for you in November, but we need your help. We are trying to put together "The Best Shoe Collection Ever"! We need your photos of your favorite shoes - please see all the details below. Do check the fine details - there is a 12th Street Shoes gift certificate at stake : )

We also say goodbye this month to Whitney. We have so enjoyed having her at the shoe store. Don't worry, you will still see her around Fairhaven. She will be working at the Fairhaven Tennis Center. We will miss her and wish her all the best! Stop by and welcome Stephanie to the 12th Street Shoes family!

We hope to see you all this month. Lots of fun shoes coming in. Plus it's my birthday month so it has to be a good month! Take care everyone!

Sincerely,

Jody

Matt & Nat Logo
We are excited to bring back Matt & Nat after a many years hiatus. Not because customers didn't like them but because Matt & Nat changed their distribution chain and now they are back to service the independent retailer. Yeah! We are glad they are back because we love them!!!!

The name Matt & Nat, stands for MAT(T)ERIAL and NATURE, and was originally conceived in 1995. They have a fascinating start.  Inder Bedi, the founder, was asked by a Hare Krishna priest to become a vegetarian for 30 days. The priest was a friend of the family. So he did and it changed his life.

Inder was a law student and after his challenge, he took a class on entrepreneurship and had to create a fictitious business and raise funding. As a now vegetarian, he realized that there were no fashionable options for vegetarians thus Matt & Nat was born.

  Godspeed

Matt & Nat loves to experiment with bag shapes with some ground rules: no leather. A mandate to use eco/recycled/upcycled materials wherever possible has led to recycling plastic bottles for linings, the use of cork and secret future plans to upcycle bicycle tires.

MATT & NAT's values are love, authenticity and responsibility. They are inspired by the textures and hues of nature, and they will do their best to protect.

   Shane

Various vegan leathers are used in production, the scientific terms are PU (polyurethane) and PVC (polyvinylchloride). PU is less harmful to the environment and used wherever possible.

MATT & NAT designs and produces their own custom hardware. Some great brand ambassadors of M&N over the years have been Nathalie Portman, Fearne Cotton, Olivia Wilde, Charlize Theron, Eva Mendes, Rory Freidman, Emily Deschanel, Adrian Grenier.

Live beautifully is the mantra at the core of MATT & NAT. Living beautifully means appreciating beauty, humanity, creativity and positivity.

Jorge Lrg

The Matt and Nat company motto comes from founder Inder Bedi's Indian and Sikh background: "Choose life, choose positivity, choose the golden rule, choose to be at peace with yourself, choose salvation."

Fella

We hope you love all the styles we have to offer from Matt & Nat. They are very wonderful handbags. Unfortunately, this isn't a line that we can special order, so sorry. DOn't worry, we do have lots to choose from.

Shearling Upkeep!

Now that it is starting to get cold, time to think about pulling out your shearling boots. Wonder how to keep them looking fresh?

Best tip - use Wooolite or some other type of very gentle shampoo. Do not put them in the washing machine. If you are cleaning boots, stuff them with paper and allow them to air dry. Do not put them in the dryer.

You may want to water protect your boots - do not use sprays that have silicone in them. It will clogs the pores of the sheepskin - preventing the sheepskin from breathing.

Ugg makes some great products - they are the masters of sheep skin. Their water protector spray does not have silicone in it.

Ugg has a great little kit which has everything you need  - even a little brush to flush up everything after it is dry.

Ugg Care

Quick follow-up from our "Suede Rescue" column, customer Barbara F. says that she carries an artist's eraser in her purse to take care of spots on her suede. The erasers are inexpensive and fit easily into your purse. Thank you Barbara for that great tip!

Hope this was helpful. If there is something special you would like to see in this column - let us know! E-mail us at

New Arrivals
So many fun new shoes this past month. Lots more to come. We are just starting to get our boots in. Lots more to come. I think this is the first week I have actually worn boots. It has been so warm, I am now ready! Even though I say that, it doesn't mean I want snow. Just chilly enough for boots : )

Romika Boot
We have brought back one of last year's favorite boots but this time we have brought it in, in black. Fabulous boot from Romika. Love the mixed use of leathers. Great footbed. Can't go wrong with this cutie.

 Naot shoe
We have some great new styles in from Naot. This one above is the perfect basic black shoe. Just enough details to make her interesting and comfort tat makes her an all day shoe!

Matt & Born
Our shoe snaps shoe, the Born Lusi, looks fabulous paired with a Matt & Nat handbag. The colors look great together. Have to say, can't have enough purple shoes. I have at least 15 pairs.

ILI Bag
Just got in a new line of handbags - ILI. Love the leather, feels so wonderful to the touch. reasonably priced too. Love this tote - fun details with the woven leather.

 Fly Boot
Yeah! More Fly London's have arrived! I know you all love this footbed. We have added a boot for Fall. This gray suede is a wonderful color for Fall. It goes with everything! Great addition to your Fall wardrobe.

Eneka F2012
Your favorite brand from Spring - Eneka! Just a heads up, they are changing their name next Spring to Sabrinas - same fabulous shoes, just a different name. We just got in about six new styles from Eneka - love them all. We will also be getting in a flat version in black patent. Have had lots of requests for it, luckily they had some in stock - they will be in soon, promise!!!

El Nat Heel
Great new looks from El Naturalista. They are so comfortable and so cute all at the same time! This one above is one of my favorites! Love the heel and the mix of colors.

Elt Nat shoe
More fun looks from El Naturalista. Love this little shoe. So very, very cute.

Dasnko Leaf
Now this is a northwest shoe! New from Dansko - this is a metallic leaf pattern. Love it! Great colors. Perfect pattern for here.

Aerosoles leopard
Fun new looks from Aerosoles! The leopard is my favorite. Both have been very well received. Super comfortable and super cute!

Glad the weather is finally turning and it is time for boots!
