Red Sky Doxies Update
Last month, we shared a story of dumped
Dachshunds that Red Sky Rescue
trapped and rescued. There
were seven adult dachshunds abandoned together, and SNSI asked for your help in getting them all fixed.
Shelter Manager, Ruth Riley, reports that all the pups are doing great, and many are
spayed/neutered and adopted to
adoring families. Several others are with foster families awaiting their forever homes.
Because of the generous donations of SNSI's supporters, we we able to assist Red Sky in getting all the dogs and puppies fixed, to stop the cycle of shelter overpopulation. Your donations make a big difference in saving animal lives. SNSI thanks you!

Caring Canines Helps Cats, Too
SNSI frequently hears from rescue groups across Indiana with a desperate need for spay/neuter certificates. Last week, Caring Canine Animal Rescue in Coal City (Owen County), sent a plea for certificates after taking in 18 7-week-old puppies, two senior dogs, and many kittens.
SNSI strives to meet the need as best we can, given
our limited resources. We anticipate this project will cost
$1,375
.
Your financial gift
helps SNSI make wonderful things happen for our furry friends.
We can't do it without you!

Minxi Finds Forever Home
This poor puppy was found alone in an alley, hungry and covered in mange. Fortunately, Muncie-based Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) rescued her. They spent a lot of time and money, treating her disease and nursing her back to health.
ARF then turned to SNSI for a bit of support. Of course, SNSI was pleased to cover the spay surgery for Minxi and to help with several other animals in ARF's care. Minxi has now been adopted into a forever home and is doing great with her two sister-pups.
Stories like these are the tip of the iceberg. This is just one example of the great work SNSI does in partnership with nearly 250 rescue groups and shelters across the state. Your support of SNSI, either through
donations
or the purchase of the
Pet Friendly license plate
, provides life-saving services to animals who might not have been given a second chance. Thank you!

Helping Hurricane Harvey Pets
It's difficult to sit back, feeling helpless, seeing the people and pets suffering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. But one Indiana rescue group is going the extra mile, literally, and taking a truckload of needed pet supplies to Houston. SNSI is a drop sight for
Hoosier Hooves and Hounds (Veedersburg in Fountain County), from now until September 13.
Not only are they looking to help dogs and cats affected by the storm, but also livestock, and are seeking the following:
Dog food * Cat food * Cat litter * Collars * Leashes * Tarps * Dog treats * Paper or Styrofoam bowls * Kitten & puppy formula * Canned cat food & tuna * Flea & tick
prevention * Metal dog bowls * Litter boxes * Large trash bags * Bleach & paper towels * Stock & stable sweet feed (for livestock) * Halters * Lead ropes * Feed buckets (for livestock) * Horse feed * Blankets/towels * Gas cards (for the trip)

You

Spaying and neutering is the single best method to
reduce the number of
