October 6th was National Manufacturing Day, and we celebrated by honoring Southwire for being a finalist for the Alabama Manufacturer of the Year!

From their 12 for Life program to the recently announced expansion of their Florence plant, Southwire continues to be an integral part of our community.

Announced this month, Governor Ivey has awarded $2 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy to help several of the state’s local governments, schools, and nonprofit groups cut costs by lowering their energy usage.

Two local organizations were a part of this effort.

  • Hawk Pride Mountain Water System (Colbert County) – $246,000 to install energy-efficient motor drive additions at two water wells.
  • Niche Polymer (Killen) – $143,600 to install energy efficient LED lighting, a heating and air system and solar pole lighting upgrades.

On October 17th, The Shoals had the honor of hosting the first-ever tri-chapter Grammy event! Members and representatives from the Atlanta, Memphis, and Nashville Grammy chapters came to The Shoals to tour our recording studios and attend the Scene & Heard "In The Shoals" event. This was a wonderful opportunity to share the exciting happenings in The Shoals' music scene with others in the industry.

This month, Kevin Jackson (President) and Mackenzie Cottles (Marketing) attended the Music Cities Convention in Huntsville, AL. This year's headline topic was "How Music Drives Social & Economic Growth in Cities." They had the opportunity to hear from & network with other communities who are exploring the music industry as an economic development and placemaking partner.

The Shoals' educational systems are enabling our future workforce to thrive, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.ο»Ώ
