Recognizing Council’s Service: 2022–2026
On October 7, Mulmur held the final Council meeting of the current term. The Township would like to sincerely thank all members of Council for their dedication, hard work, and service to our community throughout this term.
We would also like to recognize and give special thanks to outgoing Deputy Mayor Earl Hawkins, who is concluding an extraordinary 29 years of service on Council. His wisdom, leadership, and unparalleled knowledge of our Township's history have been invaluable. Earl's commitment to the community has left a lasting legacy, and his presence around the Council table will be truly missed.
Please join us in thanking Earl for his many years of service and wishing him all the best in his well-earned retirement from municipal politics.

Make the Most of Your Pumpkins
If you’re carving pumpkins this Halloween, don’t let the leftovers go to waste! Save the seeds for roasting or use the pumpkin flesh to make soup, muffins, or other seasonal treats.
Once Halloween is over, give your pumpkin a second life by removing any candles, paint, or decorations and adding it to your compost. You can also check with local farms to see if they accept pumpkins as animal feed!
A little creativity can help keep pumpkins out of the landfill and make the most of the fall harvest!

A Community Celebration to Remember
On September 26, the Mulmur residents gathered at Thomson Trail Park to celebrate 175 years of community, history, and hometown pride! Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon filled with food, fun and meaningful moments as we celebrated this special milestone.
A special thank you to:
- Primrose Elementary School
- Rosemont District Fire Department
- OPP
- Make It Sweet
- Troupe-Adore (whose efforts raised enough funds to cover four weeks of suppers for the SoupHaus).
- Museum of Dufferin
The Township was honored to receive 175th anniversary certificates from Kyle Seeback, M.P, and Sylvia Jones, M.P.P., recognizing this important milestone in Mulmur's history.
One of the day's highlights was the dedication of a memorial maple grove in honour of Ken Jewett, long-time Mulmur resident and founder of Maple Leaves Forever. Featuring native sugar and red maple trees, a memorial bench and educational signage, the grove celebrates Ken's lasting environmental legacy and his commitment to planting native Canadian maples across Ontario.
The celebration also marked the grand opening of the new paved walking path and outdoor fitness equipment at Thomson Trail Park, made possible through funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. These new amenities provide residents and visitors with an accessible space to enjoy the outdoors and stay active.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the Economic Development Committee for organizing such a wonderful event, and to all the volunteers, participants and community partners who helped make the day a success.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration so special! We are proud to celebrate Mulmur’s history and the wonderful community that continues to shape its future.

| | | Council Updates: By-laws & Community Grants | | |
Open Air By-law
At its October 7, 2026 meeting, Mulmur Council approved a new Open-Air Fire By-law to help promote fire safety and provide clear regulations for outdoor burning across the municipality.
The new by-law establishes size limits and setback requirements for outdoor fire containers, brush fires, and agricultural burns, while also outlining when and where outdoor burning is permitted. Residents who wish to conduct burns that do not meet the standard requirements of the by-law may apply for a permit through their local fire department.
Residents are encouraged to review the new regulations before conducting any outdoor burning. A copy of the by-law is available on the Township website or by contacting the municipal office.

Fill By-law
Mulmur Council has approved a new Site Alteration and Movement of Fill By-law, replacing the Township's previous by-law adopted in 2015. The updated by-law reflects current provincial regulations and strengthens the Township's ability to manage fill placement and site alteration activities while protecting roads, drainage systems, agricultural lands, and environmentally sensitive areas.
The new by-law introduces a three-tier permit classification system, with minor projects being exempt from permitting requirements, while larger projects will require permits and may be subject to additional studies and review. The by-law also incorporates provincial excess soil regulations, enhanced application requirements, stronger environmental protections, and increased enforcement tools to address non-compliance.
Residents and property owners planning grading, fill placement, or site alteration projects are encouraged to review the new requirements before commencing work. For more information, please contact the Public Works Department.
A copy of the by-law is available on the Township website or by contacting the municipal office.

Community Grants
Council was proud to award three Community Grants at its last meeting. The grants support projects that benefit the lives of Mulmur residents, including infant bassinet replacement at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, pickleball programming through North of 89 Alliance, and food hampers provided by The Shelburne Foodbank. Each project was awarded $500.
Interested in applying for a future Community Grant? Visit the Township website to view the program guidelines and application form. The next intake is scheduled for consideration by Council in April 2027.
We encourage community groups, not-for-profit organizations, and charitable organizations serving Mulmur residents to apply!

The 2nd Annual FORE Honeywood Golf Classic was a tremendous success, bringing together community members, local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and golfers for a memorable day in support of a great cause.
This year's tournament sold out with 124 golfers and raised an impressive $27,857 toward the much-needed change room additions at the Honeywood Arena. The overwhelming support demonstrated the strength of our community and its commitment to investing in local recreation facilities.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to the event's success, whether through sponsorship, prize donations, volunteering, or participation on the course. The generosity and enthusiasm shown throughout the day helped make the tournament one of the community's standout fundraising events.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year for another fantastic day of golf, community spirit, and fundraising.
