PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Greetings Chapter,

I want to start this newsletter with a BIG thank you to our 2022-23 President Alice Holloway. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving with her and I hope that I can lead our chapter as well as she has.

I have been a NTMCA member for a little over 10 years, but only became actively involved in the last several years. I wanted to start by telling you a little bit about myself. I have technically been in local government since high school, I started as a lifeguard working summers at the public pool for the City of Temple, where I grew up. In my early 20's I worked in Parks & Recreation running youth and senior programs for the City of College Station and then as the Records Management Coordinator in the City Secretary's Office under one of the best in the business, Sherry Mashburn. She encouraged me to get my certification and in 2012, my husband (fiance at the time) and I moved to Fort Worth after I somehow convince Hudson Oaks to take a chance on me, even though I wasn't done with my TRMC. As most of us do, I wear a lot of hats. I am the City Secretary, HR Director, the unofficial Administrative Services keeper upper and currently the in-office city historian. After commuting from Far North Fort Worth to Parker County, we moved to Willow Park last spring and I am now the proud owner of a five minute commute to work! My husband Billy, is an attorney with a firm in Denton and we have three girls, Amelia, 3, Olivia, 4 and Julia, 6. If I get a spare moment, I am probably reading a mystery thriller, a historical fiction or listening to a true crime podcast.

I was looking for a word that I wanted to focus on this year as President and I landed on intention. The definition of intention is simply "an aim or plan." I hope that everything I do this year as President is done with intention and that our decisions and plans for this year and for the future of our chapter have aim and purpose.

I look forward to serving as your chapter President. We have a great roster of officers this year and we are ready to serve the North Texas Municipal Clerks Association. Here's to a great year!

Warm Regards,

Shelley Scazzero

City Secretary

NTMCA President
