Honorees of the Hour
The Commitment to Progress Award
will be presented to Dr. Paul Garcia of UCSF, a nationally recognized neurologist in the treatment of epilepsy and director of Pediatric Epilepsy Services at UCSF Medical Center. Dr. Garcia will be honored for his lifetime commitment to medical excellence, expertise in the field of epilepsy, as well as his loyal dedication to his patients.
The Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented to members of the Young Adult Leadership Council (YALC), whose mission is to ensure that youth with epilepsy in Northern California are provided with support, resources and positive opportunities. Members of YALC have created the "Someone Like Me" mentoring program and have traveled to southeastern Nigeria to spread awareness and provide access to treatment for patients living with epilepsy.
Dr. Joseph Sullivan
of UCSF and Chairman of the Professional Advisory Board
will serve as emcee for the evening. Dr. Sullivan is the director of the UCSF Pediatric Epilepsy Center and assistant professor of neurology and pediatrics. We are grateful he is our Medical Director at our annual epilepsy Youth Summer Camp.
